This Daily reward thing is Harsh

I have my power go out for one night, and I missed out on the 5 crates, just -one- night. Zero forgiveness for that kind of stuff is super harsh. The best part of this was, it happened on the night I was supposed to get them, I go to work the next day thinking. " Power will be back when I get off and I'll claim them then. " Sure enough, I come home that night, power comes back, I log in, guess what? I am staring at a exp scroll! 5 crates vs exp scroll... Feels real bad, I didn't want to play the game for the rest of the night after that not only that, but it reset on me too! Thats not here or there though. The point is, in the words of the great Tom Segura. " I think it's rude you didn't give me my free ***. "

If you hadn't had missed several days already in june you should have had 5 or 6 days before the new month. Also don't worry because you are going to get some crates this month (will be less than last month tho).

Basically this. It is a bit of a tease that the clock still shows a countdown on the final item when it's the last day of the month. That's a bit of a misrepresentation of what happens. If you have any items left to claim and the month flips over, you will not have a chance to get those items. In theory, it should flip to the new month and allow you to claim the first reward for that month instead.

What should happen is that if it's the final day of a month, players shouldn't be teased with a countdown for any remaining items. It should just say something like "month ended, new month begins in X:XX:XX" It would lead to less confusion that way.

Yeah, after waiting for a whole month, it doesn't make it feel any better at all. I missed it for something I couldn't help, I just came back to the game and this is a huge buzz kill, for this, and losing out on getting the Tsaesci motif, internet was down for that too. I know they don't owe me anything, it just feels *** is all.

They gave us almost a full week of missable days. I really don't get how people are complaining "I missed one day!" when the truth is you all missed six days... >_<

Not everyone playing knew about it or understood when it was starting; I'm guessing it rolled out with the chapter on console, but I could be wrong. So people who don't regularly log on or check the forums wouldn't really know when the first date was (because they're not always around); they could've easily missed a week before realizing there was anything to miss in the first place.

There was also some confusion with the clock, and people missing out on their first reward or two; I remember some posts saying it reset to 18h (or whatever time), despite the fact that they were online and their reward wasn't claimed. Dunno what ever happened to those guys, but I assume they got their stuff. And a few others just skipped collecting their rewards because they were under the assumption they'd unlock whether you collected anything or not, and that they could skip the trash items they didn't want.

Honestly, I hate this system. I get why it exists and all, and that I should just be thankful for free stuff, but man they really have a way of slightly ruining every positive thing they implement. It's happened a lot with this most recent lot of patches and updates. Yay - Jewelry crafting! Boo - nightmare mats grind! Yay - public battlegrounds! Boo - the queue and disconnects are awful! Yay - daily rewards! Boo - poor communication and confusing interface!

Like, if you don't care enough to make a new thing the best it can be, why bother at all? This way just leads to disappointment and misunderstandings.

So it is a problem that people who weren't logging on regularly missed out on loyalty rewards?

No matter what rules are in place, someone will complain for people who just missed the cutoff, regardless of how generous.

I mean, if your goal is to get people to log on more regularly, seems kinda silly to punish people who don't log on for not knowing they were supposed to start logging on. Because once they officially miss out, guess what? They're no longer eager to log on every day, and it goes right back where it was.

Like one of my professors once said, it doesn't matter if you missed class because you just didn't feel like coming or because you spent all day in the emergency room. The reason doesn't matter when the binary evaluation was whether you were in the classroom or you were not in the classroom.

It doesn't matter why you missed the daily rewards. They're a 'thank you for choosing our product today' bonus that you receive for showing up. If you don't show up, you use one of the generous excused absences per month. If you start hitting unexcused absences you either don't care enough to log in or something else in your life is more important than the game.

Which are both all right. But neither are deserving of complimentary bonuses. Because you didn't show up.

That is such a great way to put it. Also very relevant to this, if you don't show up on the first day and you miss the syllabus, you really can't complain when you start missing quizzes and tests. So not logging into the game or the forums regularly isn't really a good excuse. Daily rewards were announced 2 months before Summerset even launched. That is more than enough time to come to the forums and find out about it.

I don't think that bolded part is true; if it were, they'd give out things people actually want. Other than tel var stones, alliance points, and maybe a pet, all the items are things that folks consider vendor trash (when they come in the crates) or supplies that regular players (those most likely to show up every day) don't need. I'm still fairly certain these are incentives for players to begin logging in regularly, and feel that it defeats the purpose if those players feel cheated right out of the gate.

I'd prefer if the rewards were milestones, instead - just like the original loyalty items were. 5 days, 10 days, 20 days, 40 days - etc, whatever. You hit the milestone, you get that item, no matter when you start or whether you contribute to your total every single day. Log in 4 consecutive days, but miss a week? That's cool. Start at 5 with your reward and keep going, so that it remains a reward and doesn't become a penalty.

If somebody gives you something, you graciously accept it - even if you don't want it or like it.

It's not an invitation to be selfish or demanding. If you hate it that much, at least pretend to be appreciative and then quietly throw it in the trash when nobody's watching.

I did miss the last day of crates and got confused with the countdown timer. Doesn’t help that I’m in Australia and trying to keep track of the multiple different rollover times can be confusing.

Anyway, I got a very helpful ticket response and I’m passing it on...

If you look at your daily rewards calendar you’ll notice padlocks on each reward. Now if they’re white it means there’s currently enough time remaining in the month to claim that reward. However, if the padlock is grey, you no longer have enough time remaining to claim it.

    Hope this helps.
