Stam Orc Sorc... Hundings or Automaton?

I know this is a very frequently asked question. But I couldn’t find the answer for an Orc Sorc so I pose this question now. What is a better set for my build, Hundings or Automaton. For reference this is a PVE DW/Bow (I like one sword one axe so much I may sacrifice a bit of damage to use those 2 weapons) build and I’m already using VO/ and switching between Selene/Kragh/Stormfist/ and Veli.

I don’t know the exact numbers but it’s very very close. I think automatons is a little higher, but if you don’t have it already then just go hundings. I don’t think auto is worth farming anymore. If you’re gonna farm something go for beserking warrior.

Automaton only applies the 5pc bonus to physical damage and I expect some of your damage is not physical. Poison and disease damage is an example of damage that is common in stam builds but does not fall under Physical damage for that set.

Hundings will apply to all stamina damage skills. Automaton has never been a top set for those reasons.

While it is correct that all stam builds run disease/poison damage to some extent, what actually matters is how much % of your overall damage scales on weapon damage while being physical. Since enchants & crafted poisons do not scale from WD, leaving only Poison Injection down when comparing Auto to Hundings.

As such, Automaton is a better pick than Hundings for a stam sorc. That said, due to Relequen havint to be on both bars, DDs are looking for a good set that works well on a single bar, which make sets such as advancing Yokeda & Ravager better picks at the time compared to Auto / Hundings.

I haven't done much PVE in a while but Spriggan is the best stam damage set in PVP imo, but i guess you could end up with too much pen depending on what you're doing.

Its also worth noting that the Automaton 5pc bonus isn't directly comparable to the 5pc for Hundings, i.e. it isn't 400 vs. 300 WD for physical damage abilities. This is because the Automaton 5pc doesn't receive all of the same sources of buffs as it would if i was just treated as a standard WD increase. You can do a quick check by buffing up and looking at how ability tool tips change. From memory, on my build (it will vary based on abilities slotted etc.), the Automaton 5pc was equivalent to ~360 WD when I was fully buffed.
