Cyrodiil has been a laggy mess since the patch, with mass crashes happening frequently and unplayable levels of lag during primetime, anywhere on the map. It appears that most of the crashing & some of the lag are caused by rendering issues - as the game/console struggle to bring the full spectrum of lighting, texture, particles, weather, etc into full render as the player moves across cyrodiil. Many of the top tier PvP players i play with agree that it would be a huge QoL improvement if zenimax were to add the ability to disable certain visual aspects of the game. Things like grass, light-rays, shadows, weather, are all superficial and unnecessary for anything other than aesthetic purposes. Players who care about the PvP aspect of the game will be more than happy to disable these things to allow for better performance and less instances of crashing, and in return there would be increased levels of satisfaction in the PvP community (something we are in dire need of).

So, in other words, to improve gameplay, remove the only thing that makes ESO a better made game than, say, Candy Crush. Remove the incredible visuals so that you can play the game. Have you been playing ESO, ever? That's about all it has going for it.

No, just add the OPTION to remove these things. Like I said, players that are playing PvP for the combat and fights would MUCH rather have less lag and less crashes than a few visual effects. There is no harm whatsoever in implementing a change like this as it would be an option in the settings menu used on an individual basis - not a revamp of cyrodiil globablly. ESO has some of the most entertaining, fast paced, skill based combat of any MMO. The only thing holding it back is extreme levels of lag on console causing abilities to not work whatsoever.

In all honesty there should be toggles for this sort of thing. They have them on PC, why not console?

If you don't want to use it leave it toggle off. Otherwise, I'd love for grass to disappear at least...

The request you're asking for isn't going to improve the game.

First: the "patch" applied includes new code to support multi-core processors, so this is going to be buggy until ZoS can patch. Unfortunately, we're all guinea pigs until this is fixed.

Second: once you pop into the cell, the assets are loaded, so the "heavy fighting" areas isn't going to be affected by the assets. Trying to render these fights are going to tax any system.

I can't verify how much of the server allocation is divided between the game, but I'm guessing that due to the low player base which actually PvPs, not much resource is going into more server resources (which is what will truly reduce lag).

Disabling ambient affects and environmental factors improves framerate and general performance in almost every game I've played where it is an option. And from personal experience, things like rain and snow cause FPS drops nearly every time I encounter them (and weather is not global - it is present on an individual basis. Player A can stand right next to player B and have it rain on their console, but player B will have bright-sunshiney-god rays floating down through the clouds). They supposedly enabled more servers "for pvp" with the hotfix two days ago, but I'm not entirely familiar with the technicalities of it as I usually just have my more technologically inclined friend explain these types of things to me. Whatever the case, the change the made with the hotfix did nothing, and it is time they try something new. This should be a relatively low investment option for them to add in with the next patch, that won't negatively affect anyone's gameplay experience.

edit: just because your signature reminded me, I'm also playing on an Xbox one X with a wired, high speed internet connection.
