Bound Aegis question

I have reset all my skills and thing of trying out something new. I am not sure how Bound Aegis works.

Is there a time limit for this? I am under the assumption that all spells have time limits. I keep thinking this is a misprint when I am reading on line forums. So is there a time limit or it's gone once the amount of damage would have happened is negated? I think I tried it once but can never tell if it's working or not so I stopped using it. I am reading a build saying I should try it, but since I am not sure how it works, not sure what to do.

Not my quote but I love this saying

"I would pay It for support. But since they choosed we are just numbers and not customers, i dont mind if game and zos goes to oblivion"

Bound Aegis had two passive effects along with one active effect to reduce cost of block by 20% for 3 secs.

Thank you very much. So I have to keep recasting this spell every 3 seconds then? I don't understand the purpose if it lasts so short. I don't understand and like to learn and understand so I can use the skill properly.

I believe it isn't reduce the cost of block but grants you an additional 20% mitigation when blocking. I don't know the math behind it but I would assume that the base 50% with +20% would net a total of ~70% mitigation when blocking?

    Correct.

OP the ideal is time against heavy attacks.

Yes. This can be block casted to make sure you don't drop block. Block -> Shield -> Bound Aegis = Profit!

That is at least how I prefer to run it.

Mostly though you slot it for the passive:

"While slotted, your Max Magicka is increased by 5% and you gain Minor Ward and Minor Resolve. These increases you Spell Resistance and Physical Resistance"

I wonder how much the percentage actually contributes after calculating all the penetration/mitigation?

Yes, that was the only reason it was slotted back when it was a toggle. Update 18 introduced a change, so why not take advantage of it?
Protect yourself with the power of Oblivion creating a suit of Daedric mail that increases you block mitigation by 20% for 3 seconds.

I'm not sure as I don't know the math behind it, but if it helps, why not? It can be block casted anyways. According to the list of mitigation sources, it would apply after any ward falls of, so I only see positives for why you would want to do this.
