Pop locking is garbage.

I play DC, for a while now people have been saying "were is DC? we are pop locked"
here is my theory on how this works....

Its an open population. Once the first faction hits their "cap", they get a lock symbol. BUT no queue. They are still allowed in with no line up and just fill the other factions bars. Once they are all locked, then the line ups begin, starting with the faction with the most players.

Example only.
EP has 350 players = Lock Symbol, No queue
AD has only 200 players = 2 bars, EP can still have 150 more people enter.
DC as only 300. players = 3 bars EP can have 50 more people enter.

Once EP has filled the other bars, then the line up begins.

allowing EP to have 200 more players.

I just went into Vivec with all three factions poplocked and there was no queue, instantly got in.

Is there any official word on how this works or is it still hush hush?

In my experience, its possible to get in when poplocked with no queue, but my guildmates who get in soon after me will have a queue start quickly and grow progressively. The whole crossfaction queue bug was fortunately solved, so I doubt that the queues count other faction players anymore.

Usually, the "Where is EP? We're poplocked..." (and yes, we say it too) actually means "Where the heck is EP and WTF are they doing because they sure aren't right here when I need then right now doing what I want them to do."

Alternatively, you could check the Imperial City, which is a whole 'nother issue, when it comes to campaign pop...

I agree. Ever since summerset it feels like the population exploit is back. When ep has two massive zergs pac-manning across cyrodiil freezing everyone in their path and ad and dc can barely throw up a defense. In reality ad is probably rping in some remote corner of the map or perpetually stuck at alessia bridge and dc is potato farming at Bleakers or Nickel or at some remote keep sh*t spamming in chat.

Yeah. I join poplocked campaigns all the time since Summerset and get in instantly every time.

I've always felt that 1 bar means 1 to 50 players for that faction. 2 bars means 51 to 100, 3 bars means 101 to 150, and locked means 151 to 200 with the queue starting at 200. These numbers may not be right, but i firmly believe that the lock symbol appears at the lower end of a range of players with the upper limit of that range starting the queue. I base this off of being able to get into Cyrodiil while seeing the lock symbol since forever. Usually at the beginning of prime time and at the end of prime time you will still see the lock but no queue, while in the heat of prime time there will actually be a queue.

Pop needs to drastically be decreased with more servera the game simply cant handle very large scale PVP... Right now Vevic is TRASH!!!!!! ZoS should be absolutely ashamed of the performance of the game on Vevic it looks bad for the game and the franchise !

Funny story, I got kicked to login then when I logged back in I was in hews bane. So I que up DC has a 7 person que at 9:30ish pm east.

It pops near immediately, I go to enter and nothing happens. Que of 2. Pops again get and then finally allowed in.

How broken did summerset make cyro and how much was know internally while speaking about "so called performance improvements"?

It's starting to feel like a legit bait and switch.

OPs description seems a little off.

Pop lock is per faction. The line to get in only forms if more are trying to get in than are leaving.

So at any time one faction can be pop locked while the other factions have are far from pop locked so the odds are essentially with that first faction.

Prove it please..... I've seen no evidence provided by the devs. Unless its posted somewhere I haven't seen.
It also hurts when they openly promote EP as the #1 faction in Pvp.

I can't find the video, but its the one where they name all the stats. Like how many mudcrabs have been killed since launch.
It clearly states that EP has the most players, and most kills in Pvp, but makes no mention of any other faction. I think this is bias.

if anyone knows the video i am speaking about please share it.

In my estimation there should be a 4th bar for 151 to 200 with the lock icon only showing when a queue starts.

You mean this Anniversary post from April (well before the current issues with population)? https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/26349

"And, finally, here's some additional numbers that might surprise:

Most popular race: High Elf (14.98% of all characters)
Most popular Alliance: Ebonheart Pact (36.33% of all characters)
Most PvP Kills by Alliance: Ebonheart Pact (122,490,253 kills)
    Highest unpaid bounty: 248,655,731 gold
    Highest paid bounty: 362,324 gold"

I mean, its shocking, just shocking that that the Alliance with the most players on PC/Mac also has the most kills. Truly shocking. How dare ZOS share that information. Clear evidence of bias. I'm shocked. Just appalled.

    Really?

Pay no attention to the most popular race or the fact that AD won the April PC/NA Vivec campaign...

Most popular alliance is subjective as not everyone can choose their alliance. Only for those that pre-ordered the game upon initial release until the adventurer pack was sold in the crown store almost a year later.

The "lock" is a representation of the 4th bar. The cue doesnt start until the "cap" has been reached tho. Thats all the work im willing to put into this answer. lol Love the "prove it"

one of my biggest gripes with population is imperial city , imp city pulls population away from cyro and anything that goes on down there has nothing to do with cyro other than take population away . imp city needs to be on its own, log the people out of cyro when they enter and make them re cue to get back in to cyro but I guess that would be to easy and as we all know zos will never fix cyro for gods sake it took 3 years to make two handed weps count as two slots.
