New player gear advice

Xoduse
Xoduse
So I just hit 160cp (stamblade) and I'm looking to gear up. Some of the items I want probably aren't obtainable for me yet(masters bow for example). I have 250k alliance points and almost no 160cp gear as of yet. Any recommendations on what to spend those points on?

Point wise no idea but for a beginner you could use spriggans/hundings/imp. And try to get BP at some point

I’m not the best but that’s what i use, I started a couple of months ago so i haven’t had a chance to test a lot of stuff yet

For stam nightblades, generally bone pirate, spriggan’s, hunding’s, hulking draugr, and sheer venom are good bets.

Sload’s is mandatory though. All the best players use this set. Ignore the hate messages you may get, these people just don’t know how to play

Yeah i've been looking into bone pirate. Should i just do it on normal for the blues or go vet for the purples?

I plan on getting it the next 2 days (my weekend) I’m going blue for it being easier and i have all that i need to up them to purple..

If you have a group and not randos then vet should be fine

Go normal. Blue jewellery is good enough to test the build. If you like it, you can always go vet and farm for purple. If you have generally good loot luck or have access to friends/guildies you can farm vet with, go vet directly.

If you intend to combine with spriggans, you can buy jewellery and weapons (guild traders have a good supply of spriggans), which makes BP farming much easier.

Combo a sustain set and a damage one. For example Eternal Hunt (crafted) or Bone Pirate Tatters (dropped in Blackheart Haven) with a damage one like Hunding's Rage (crafted) or Spriggan's Thorns (dropped in Bangkorai).

Agreed, Bone Pirate and Spriggans are really good. Another option might be Shacklebreaker. It's easy to get and a decent choice for most content. I've been using it on and off in Sotha Sil recently.

Depends on your playstyle too, don't want eternal hunt if you're not planning on rolling a lot, don't want medium armour if you're planning to be tanky etc...

But yeh as Asardes said above 1 dmg 1 sustain until you're properly used to the class and self sustaining. I'd go crafted and BoE as they're easy to get, although if you're happy farming dungeons go for it.

Hundings, NMG (5 piece only effective if 1vX ing or not using SA... for some strange reason?), Eternal Hunt, Shacklebreaker, Bone Pirate, Spriggans, Vipers, Seven etc...

    Nice places to look:

Since you are aiming for masters bow, I guess you are going for a bow/bow build? In that case I suggest hawks eye and marksman. Try to get asylum normal bow (its more than good enough), which is a fairly easy group both to find and to complete.

If you are going forr bow/2h, I guess shacklebreaker+sloads is a good start for now. Also check out alcastHQ, he has in my opinion some of the best cyrodiil builds. I can not recommend HA if you are going to roam btw. For a duel build HA is very good, but not for cyrodiil (mobility).

    This is sarcastic right?

Out of the “top players” I can only think of one who actually uses it.

Are there a lot of people who were terrible and mediocre last patch that have now started being able to compete with top players due to sloads? Sure. That’s what “being carried by a set” means.

But those people still crumble when the top players actually go full try-hard and run in strong class compositions, because sloads is an Xv1 set and doesn’t scale well as group size is increased.

    Amen.

Im all for working with what’s there but to say a set that essentially carries you is mandatory is laughable. Why not go for a higher weapon damage/crit set and hit like a truck, and then learn what rotations and skills work well with your abilities - rather than just mindlessly mashing buttons and praying that sload procs.

I would only run the Spriggan's 5 piece if you have a master bow for the back bar.

If you're new to PvP, then I recommend running this:

5 piece Shackle (3 on the body, then a 2h and bow).

5 Bone Pirate (3 jewelry and 2 body pieces).

    2 Piece Troll King

I like running 4 impen, 3 well fitted.
Make sure you have 2 heavy, 5 medium.
Tri Glyphs on your big pieces.
Stam Glyphs on our small pieces.
Nirn 2h - Disease Glyph or Poison
Infused Bow - Weapon Damage Glyph

You only need to farm vet for the jewelry.
The rest you can get on normal, and then upgrade.

An alternate build is to run Shackle Body, Agility Jewelry, and a seducer bow (for the magicak regen on your bow bar) and either a mechanical acuity 2h for more weapon damage, or a Night Mother's Gaze 2H for weapon crit.
