Unable to access ESO due to "Xbox Game Pass required"

Hello,
I'm asking for a friend (his english is quite atrocious).
He bought the game some time ago, along with the Morrowind chapter. He uninstalled it at some point, and he installed it again yesterday, only to be told that he needed the Game Pass to play the game, even though he OWNS the base game.
Anyone has encountered the same issue ? The Xbox Store says he is the owner of the game, yet he can't launch it because he needs to "update the Game Pass" or something along those lines.

TheOtterVIISoul ShrivenTurns out he forgot he purchased a physical copy and he had to use the disc. *sigh*
