Why aren't healers rewarded in BG?

463k healing done, everyone else averaging around 30k or less. But it doesn't give me assists, and I'm not killing stuff. So I'm always at the bottom of the scoreboard with just a death count... Can healers get a medal too, and assists for assisting teammates in combat with buffs and healing?

There should be a healing arena in battlegrounds where they spam heals until one random healer explodes

What matches are you running? You’ll have better medal success as a healer in objective-based modes like Chaosball. I don’t know why you’d expect medals as a healer in Deathmatch, though... Your team advances in death matches based on the number of enemy kills. A self-healing, damage oriented team will always do better than a team of three damage dealers and one dedicated healer. If you’re focusing on healing your teammates during death matches without contributing any damage (which I assume is the case, since you’re getting no assist medals) then you’re only helping your team to a minimal extent.

If you want to heal in BGs, I recommend exclusively running flag/chaosball games.

There are plenty of achievements for healing, that they're difficult to get for tanks/dds.

You get the same rewards at the End as everyone else and the same amount of points for playing objectives. The only things you don't get are kills. But DDs don't get healing based stuff either. If you aren't getting assists, you should maybe start to debuff or CC enemies to help your DDs kill them.

I play assist heal in BGs and I prefer the current scoring system. I think to focus solely on healing is only half of a healer's job, especially in BGs (your team won't always need heal, eso builds are very self sufficient - you SHOULD be encouraged to contribute by other means). Use your downtime efficiently, contribute by assisting and you will get more points than anyone else.

It is very easy to score 5-6k+ points every single deathmatch (even games you are losing) by playing a healer. Why should you be rewarded for being only active when someone takes damage, theres so much more you can do to help your team win. You are not being efficient, that's the reason for your points being low.

So what, it's better that way.
You keep everyone alive, they kill, your team wins and your MMR doesn't go up, allowing you to be matched with newbies and win daily prizes with ease.
