Not much of a grind if your group is capable of clearing vAS hardmode. All drops are tradeable and people are usually willing to trade them.
On the other hand, the road to vAS+2 can be bumpy. You need a good coordinated group that is willing to practice.

No grind. Can purchase carries for around 2m gold and you get your pick of weapons

Simply getting a perfected weapon is quite easy. Just wait for AS to be weekly and do a decent run with a guild.

If you want a specific weapon it will take you ages via reward mails (unless you're lucky). Here you should find a group capable of clearing vAS hm and farm until someone in your group drops the desired weapon and gives it to you. This may take a while.

The inferno staff is good in niche situations for pvp and pve. By no means necessary though.

If you can’t, it depends on how often there is a weekly. Get as many characters on that leaderboard as possible!

Its harder then vMA simply because it requires everyone in the group to be up to par. vMA only involves you.

Well vAS HM (Veteran Asylum Sanctorium +2) is a 12-player trial, so it’s very different from something like vMA which is solo.

If I had to compare the difficulty of my experience as a Damage Dealer across many, many vAS HM completes to my many, many vMA completes.... vAS HM is definitely tougher. It never feels easy like vMA does after a ton of runs. You also have to rely on 11 other players for the complete instead of just your own skills. There aren’t many raid groups that can complete vAS HM unfortunately

If you just do vAS to get on the weekly leaderboards, it’s imo the easiest of all of the trials and *much* easier than vMA. You’ll definitely be able to get Perfected Weapons this way

Oh and did you mean you haven’t run vAS HM before or vAS in general? Just for reference, when I’m throwing all these numbers around it correlates to the order in which you battle Asylum Sanctorium’s three bosses: the side boss St. Felms, the side boss St. Llothis, and the main boss St. Olms.
• vAS, vAS+0 -> Vet Asylum Sanctorium where you fight each of the bosses separately
• vAS+1 -> Vet Asylum Sanctorium where you fight one side boss separately, and then battle the main boss+one side boss together in the same fight
• vAS HM, vAS+2 -> Vet Asylum Sanctorium where you fight all bosses in the same fight

So yeah, vAS HM is no joke lol. I would absolutely recommend farming Perfected Weapons from the weekly trials. In the process you’ll probably get the Regular versions of the weapons you want anyway, which are very similar. The only weapon that has a noticeable difference between Regular and Perfected versions is the Destruction Staff.
If you don’t have a top tier raid group, block the possibility of getting Perfected Weapon from vAS HM out of your mind lol

It's a raid (so 12 players). It's one of the hardest pieces of content in the game. The first step is finding a guild that regularly does vet raiding. And then you need to practice (a lot) before you get good enough to clear it.

Sounds fair enough. I'm just getting back into the game so I'm trying to build my Sorc up again. Is the non-Perfect Asylum staff adequate or should I try my hand at some other set? (Currently I'm aiming for 5 Scathing/Mechanica/Juli, 3-4 Infal with a Maelstrom in the back bar, and 2 Illambris since I don't have Summerset to do the 5 Srioria + 5 Mechanical setup)

I was thinking I could run an Asylum on the front and just use 3 Infal? What would be better?
