Dungeons and Trials question

I am just starting this game. This is also the first MMO I have played. I have not tried any of the group content as I am deaf and have trouble playing and using text chat at the same time. Would it be worth the trouble to try this aspect of the game , or should I just stick to solo content.

It'll be tougher for sure, but you should be able to do it. There's a number of text guides for Dungeons and Trials often with accompanying screenshots. Look for a guild that does Trial training they will often help newer players acclimate to the trial mechanics, and as long as you know the mechanics and what to keep an eye out for, you'll adjust in no time.

If you're on PC I would also recommend using the RaidNotifier add-on. It usually has big popups on the screen that'll inform you when certain mechanics are about to start.

Most dungeons won't require that much effort to do and usually aren't that complex, with a few notable exceptions.

Imperial City Prison, White Gold Tower, Ruins of Mazzatun, Cradle of Shadows, Bloodroot Forge, Falkreath Hold, Fang Lair and Scalecaller Peak.

Thanks for the information, I am on Xbox so no add-on's for me LOL. Will look into the text guides. I have not joined any guilds as yet so that is not an option for me at this time. I am not certain how joining a guild will help as from what I can tell the only way to "chat" is by voice.

Play the game until you reach CP300, then join pugs for normal Craglorn trials (go to Belkarath, Craglorn and wait for someone to call it).

Problem with trials is that the hardest ones either requires you to know exactly what to do in which situation, or to listen to the raid leader's direction, so being deaf is kind of a big deal.

The oldest ones (Craglorn) are not a big deal anymore, and people don't mind, they don't even talk/write in chat.

Ofc reading a guide would help a lot, but in the end you practice and learn.

If I was in your position, and interested in doing trials, I would first read a guide (Late Night Dungeoneer's used to be pretty good, not sure if the website is still up), then join a pug and try to follow the person that looks like the most experienced one. Standing in front of the healer at all times is often the best choice.

But the Craglorn ones (Sanctum Ophidia, Aetherian Archive, Hel-Ra Citadel) are not that hard, so you can safely join one and see for yourself if it's for you or not.

My advice is to wait until you reach CP300 anyways, tho, just to have a better chance at not getting kicked for being too low. CP300 is usually the sweet spot.

    Hope it helps.
    Happy trails trials.

Shouldn't be long now, just make sure to take full advantage of enlightenment.

Getting to 300 is pretty quick now, compared to before.

You can try to join one as soon as you reach CP160, but there's a pretty high chance you'll get kicked, people pugging craglorn normals are usually there to farm equipment, so they will carry a CP160, but most likely not someone lower than that.

Might work better on PC as people only use voice in organized groups. No build in voice chat.
And all have problems using chat while fighting :)
This only get required with veteran trials and organized groups in PvP.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

You should be fine in normal mode dungeons for practice. Once you get used to the mechanics there then move on to Vet mode. Mechanics don’t really change a whole lot between those modes, just the damage numbers and frequency. Heck, people barely ever communicate in normal or vet for the non-dlc dungeons these days because they’ve been around so long.

If you’re not already on PC/MAC and you have the cash for it, I’d recommend playing on one of those platforms because text chat is the primary mode of communication thanks to the keyboard (although I think you can connect a keyboard to consoles, too, which might be a more cost effective option).

Yeah, on PC text chat is much easier than on XBox, so it's not unusual for people to type a short summary of a fight for people who are new to a dungeon. During a trial, there are going to be times where the raid leader will make calls and people need to react (like dropping ultimates or such), but if you develop good awareness of the fight, you can do what needs to be done without hearing the instructions. It takes a bit of practice though.
