I don't know If this makes sense but

Meticulouswolf
Meticulouswolf
Soul Shriven
With the release of Summerset Isles DLC it brought along a bunch of new tings but I have a question, Why is it that even if I did not buy the DLC I can still collect the ingredients to the crafting aspect even though I won't be able to use it?

Just because you don’t have ss now doesn’t mean you won’t have it in the future. Morrowind became a dlc included in the sub, so ss probably shares the same fate. You will be able to use it eventually so it’s nice to already have mats

I think it's subtle advertising for the chapter. You can still sell the raw mats, and they will get bought up provided you have collected a good chunk. A lot of people are buying the raw mats to refine for the upgrade material since they sell for a lot. Also, friends can still craft jewelry for you, so I think you would need to have access to the mats in order to supply them to your friend for the crafting.

Also, as Chilly said, it may actually become part of the base game eventually, we won't know until it happens. It's the first time a crafting skill has been introduced into the game since launch.

that's sort of like a base game addition, i guess. now there are also things in the world from which jeweling ingredients can be gathered. they're there. you might not know how to use it, just like irl i don't know how to do a lot with scrap metal, but that stuff is still in the world.

you can pick it up and sell it to more-interested parties, or you can ignore it. i really don't know how well raw platinum sells, or if it's worth your time.
