Defile and healing ward

So im curious about this. I feel like defile has zero effect on damage shields. Anyone else feel this way? Like a sorc with a healing ward up gets the same heal when that healing ward pops no matter if they're defiled or not.. Idk feels like somethings wrong here. But anyway just curious about it if anyone has done some testing.

Defile affects their heals only, not damage shield strength.

So for healing ward, the only thing that gets affected is the initial heal on the target, but not the shield size itself.

With or without defile if sorc will use healing ward when he's under 50% health it'll heal him to full health when it expires.

Hm i see. Just makes it all the more difficult to kill them before they drop a meteor rune prison-frag-execute insta kill combo... Good to know.

Defile doesn't affect shields, and healing ward's secondary heal is a percentage of the remaining shield power, so if you don't want it to heal, make sure you destroy the shield, you have 6s to do so (6s are an eternity in PvP time, btw).

If it's re-casted before it expires, no secondary heal, so, win-win.

The primary heal is direct healing, so it's affected by defile, battle spirit etc.

ofc, if you're using Sload/Shieldbreaker/Knight Slayer/Oblivion enchant, well, RIP... it goes through shields, so it doesn't damage them, therefore the secondary heal will proc.

I wont use sets like sloads or shield breaker because its aids and shield breaker is situational anyway.. But imo rune prison is aids too. And ya thats pretty much the only thing you can do, break through the ward. The problem is decent sorcs will stack their shields correctly so you have to get through a massive hardened ward, then harness/dampen and then the healing ward..

And let me re-correct that for you. It is an insta kill.. I have 23k health and 24k spell resist on my stam sorc.. I will get killed instantly, like right at the start of a duel, by curse-rune prison-frag-execute.. Its a combo that you cannot survive with certain really hard hitting builds. Nothing in this game should be that way.

The only way to combat it is either stun the sorc when you see the rune prison coming, which is hard with lag, or to run immovs. Or i suppose you could run a build with 28k max health but that still might not stop the meteor combo.. Its tough right now.

I may be one of the only sorcs who doesn't use rune prison. Sometimes I slot defensive rune for anti-ganker purposes, but that's it. I never use either morph in duels BGs or Cyro when I'm rolling with a group. Just feels cheap to me. Only time it seems reasonable would be for 1vXers.

    No you won't, here's why:

Frag needs to proc, it procs on a random chance when you use magicka skills that are on the same bar as frags. It can't be used at the beginning of the fight unless you're extremely lucky and have it proc off the first wrath or RP.

As for rune prison, if you pop an immovable pot, you're immune to it, same as, for instance, fossilize, and you should, unless you're 5 or 6 fights in and you know your opponent will expect you to do so, so it would be better to save it.

As a rule of thumb, on your first duel with someone you should be starting with an immovable pot, until you manage to understand the enemy's strategy and build a counter play.

Also, if I have a 25k burst, against your 23k HP, sure, in that case it's an insta-kill, but against someone with 26, 27, 28 or 30k HP is not (they are extremely common in, let's say, open world).

As for meteor, it's an ultimate, it needs to be built up, and while a sorc has Power Stone which reduces the cost, they don't have means to gain ulti, like, for instance, a DK or a NB.

Which means they can open with it on the first duel, assuming they knew they were going to duel, but not on the second one.

    Hope this clarifies.
    Have a nice day.
