Trying To Get Highest Quality Laptop For ESO with $1000 Budget

My laptop sucks and I am planning on getting a new one, specifically to play ESO along with a couple other games. My budget is $1000 and I was hoping to get some help on what to buy as well as what laptop runs ESO at the highest quality. I will be on the go so I can't get a desktop computer. I was also wondering whether laptops are up to par with desktops. I figured not but I want to make sure if I am spending that kind of money that I don't buy a laptop that doesn't run well and will be out dated or run down within a year or two. Thanks for the help!

First, do you plan to participate in Cyrodiil PVP? Keep in mind large keep battles in Cyrodiil are a lot more demanding on the CPU compared to PVE, so weaker mobile CPU will perform better in PVE compared to PVP.

I've played on a few different laptops and desktops with different hardware.

For $1k budget within the US you can definitely buy laptop that can run ESO 60fps on max settings in PVE. Just keep in mind your performance will drop below 60fps in large cyrodiil battles.

Look for laptop with full 45W quad core i7 CPU (CPU model# ending in HQ, HK or H as in i7-7820HQ, 7820HK, 7700HQ 8300H, etc) and avoid any low voltage energy saver 15W CPU (model # ending in U, as in i7-8650U, 8550U etc).

Also ideally you want laptop with GTX 1060, and there are a few in your budget range with this card. If you can't find one with 1060, you might consider one with 1050Ti, but I would avoid any laptop with video card weaker than 1050Ti.

If you wait a few months, the next generation Nvidia laptop cards will launch, and there will be many new laptop models with GTX 1160, 1170 etc. At that time you should be able to find really good deals on last year laptop models with 1070 and 1060.

Get a desktop. It will be cheaper or you can get better spec if you spend the full £1000 v laptop. Also desktop can be upgraded easily in future

They specifically said they need a laptop due to travel.

I’m thinking of Hades Canyon NUC myself just because I am in a hotel 3-4 days per week. But, for a few hundred £ more can get a ROG With hex core and a 1060...

My gaming laptop is a Dell (that’s right, a Dell) Inspiron 7559. i7 6700HQ @2.60GHz, 8GB Ram, 1 TB HDD + 8GB SSD and is running an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 960m. I paid around $800ish US for it from Dell. Has no problems running games. The battery is a bit larger than most gaming laptops so it does have a little weight to it but, it’s quiet even when running a game on max settings. Has Bluetooth. HDMI and USB ports. Also a backlit keyboard which makes typing in the dark fairly easy. (Because who plays video games with the lights on?)
