For long term players: how much bank space is it worth it to buy?

I am at the point where it is costing LOTS of gold per upgrade and I wonder if it’s generally not worth it or if most max it out?

If you run ESO+ you might want to spend your monthly crowns on that as unlike the in game bag merchant the crown thingie is a flat rate, of 1000 crowns.

    Max it. :)

Even if you don't max out your character's inventory, max out the bank. Too useful not to, and it's account-wide.

In the long term yes I'd say it is, as eventually you'll have more items, more armour, more weapons, gems, pots, food, kits etc...

Also you're likely going to have more characters.

I've currently filled my bank at the minute, and playing inventory management online isn't too fun.

Don't forget to feed your horse/mount as that adds to your characters inventory space. That is a flat 250 Gold each day for 60 days and 60 slots.

You will sooner or later have items that you want to keep. ESO+ sub give you unlimited crafting storage, so you will not have to save space in inventory or bank for crafting mats and bait. It will go directly to Craft Bag when you decon or when you farm mats.

With housing you can add to that storage chests that you buy with writ vouchers, AP or in CS. You will get one as reward for completing main quest line in Vvardenfell, so wait to buy any storage chest until you have got your free chest as otherwise you will not be able to collect it.

    All of it.

Gold is easy to come by in game. Bank space is bigger commodity when you’re hording lots of gear.

All of it - you can never have too much storage in game. All of it will be useful eventually. Free bank space is even more useful. Having the ability to dump 100 items from your main character inventory into the bank on a moments notice, is really frigging useful at times. Makes inventory management between alts a lot less of a hassle too.

However, there is no need to rush getting it. If you are still leveling it isn't important. Once you reach max level and start to find loot drops that are worth hanging on to, bank space becomes much more useful. One never knows what build one might want try out in the future, or how the RNG based game design philosophy of ZOS will nerf or buff any given set when an update happens.

When you got couple of max level characters, and have more or less fully kitted them out, you will start to generate an excess of gold no matter what you do. Eventually a million will become chump change, and at that point upgrading bank space is not much of an issue.

I realize that it might not feel that way at the star of the game, where 50k feels like a lot of cash. But trust me, it will change.

When you no longer have base gold sinks (i.e. bank space, horse upgrades, basic consumables (potions, food, poisons, soulgems) or even armor repairs (I have couple of hundred grand repair kits distributed among my character - all received from doing crafting writs)) you will make 10-50k in gold during a single evening of play, depending on how lucky you are with your RNG and what dailies you bother to do, and whether you maintain a membership in a trading guild.

So using Crowns on anything that can be accomplished by gold is pretty wasteful as far as I'm concerned. I can see some point in horse upgrades, but no really in those either. Speed is useful, but only really necessary in PVP. Stamina is pretty much only useful in PVP and there is no need to rush with the extra carry space.

The main reason, for not rushing your horse training, however, is that you really should not be riding all that much anyway. I strongly encourage you to develop the habit of picking up every resource node you come across - and you can't do that when riding. It will help you with crafting, and it will also help you make lots of gold, and be self sufficent as far as consumables go. So, in the end, you will be spending a lot of time on foot anyway, and there is thus no need to rush to maxing your horse.

But the main point in all of this is that - by the time buying those few last levels of bank space become relevant, you will be making hundreds of k's of gold anyway, simply from playing the game, and thus their cost becomes a pretty much a moot point.

Legerdemain is a way to mint money in this game so that can help with those last few expensive slots.

Also, ESO Plus helps in two ways, it doubles your bank and gives you Crowns to buy bank upgrades. Save those for the last 3 or 4 that are really expensive.

And to your original question, max the bank. Besides Mount Training, this is really the only you need to spend gold on. Almost anything else can acquired in game, at least anything you need
    Can be found just playing

Does the original poster have ESO+? That also helps with bagage space since all crafting materials go in there saving up lots of player/bank space as well.

What is the max bank and character space we are allowed to have?

It is hard to max bank for a new player, so do it when you need it, you don't need to push it.

Another thing is maxing capacity of the character - you cannot speed up the process without spending real money, so it is important to visit stablemaster daily.

    @Davor

200 for Character (140 character and 60 from mount training)
240 for Bank, which is doubled by ESO Plus to 480
360 in Storage Coffers for your house

I thought I didn't need that much bank space, until I started farming my first dungeon set ...

Been saving any good trait dungeon piece I get since then. Monster sets too.

    Bank upgrades are worth it.

Long term player here. Got more gold than I know what to do with. Didn't rush it at all but do have bank maxed. I seem like the minority here when I say I have more space than I need.

I agree that it's worth maxing your bank space eventually, but I don't think it's something you need to rush. As you progress through the game it gets easier to make gold and the cost of the expansions becomes less of an issue.

I've never bought bank space and am still nowhere near even a 1/4 of the way full. Of course I'm on ESO+ so I don't have to worry about resources storage (and BOY that bag must be heavy), don't collect anything an destroy what I can't sell of disassemble so maybe I don't need bank space. I'll admit that I try never to carry more than 1K in gold with me at a time so there is that.
