Launcher downloading extremely slow if not in focus.

Just wanted to get back in to ESO a bit, and started downloading the game on my Mac. Downloading is fast when the launcher is in focus, or the top, but when the window loses focus it stalls the download after a while or becomes extremely slow. Is there any fix or workaround for this? I can't keep The eso launcher open on top at all times while doing other stuff.
