Can you dodge boss mechanics?

So as a healer, I'm debating picking up gossamer, which can give major evasion to allies you heal... That being said, I wanna know if major evasion will actually help in boss battles. Take for instance the fight with the fire atronach boss in white gold tower, if I heal someone being targeted by the blue flame attacks, and they get major evasion, will there be a chance it could negate the damage from those attacks?
