ESO Mastery Guides PSA: False Testimonials!

ESO Mastery Guides sell guides for ESO (which in and of itself is kind of shady because there are so many good free guides available online), and it's very recently been brought to my attention that they are using false testimonials to make it seem like people endorse them - including a very false one that's allegedly from me.

This is false! This is not from me!


There are testimonials on their website that are allegedly from other people whose names I recognize from the forums, and I'd be willing to bet that those endorsements are as totally made up as the one that pretends to be from me.

I just wanted people to know that ESO Mastery Guides should not be trusted. Don't give them your money.

Those guides are obviously a scam. They could provide absolutely no info whatsoever and just email you a picture of a big middle finger and some people will still give them money. It's why telemarketers are still a thing and someone in some far away country sends me an email about how I can make 1 million by helping them. If a person can't realize that the internet has free (and better) guides available to them, I don't know how they manage to wake up each day and remember to breathe to maintain life functions.

Honestly I have no clue how long it takes me to level a character, because I never do it all in one go. The reason I have so many alts (currently 38 level 50s, 7 lowbies) is so that I can play whatever character I feel like playing on any given day - I may log on and play a character for a couple of hours and then not really touch them again (aside from grabbing hireling mails and maybe doing writs and/or riding lessons) for weeks.

When I do play a character that's leveling I'll do whatever I feel like doing on that character at the time: I'm not focused on grinding or otherwise leveling as fast as I can. I might do a few random normal dungeons, I might do some guild dailies, I might do some immersive questing (read as: slow where I do everything and listen to all the dialogue), whatever. Measuring the number of hours it took me to get a character to 50 through /played would be really inaccurate because it would include a lot of derping around.

I don't get it. ESO requires at least a semi-decent internet connection, and anyone who has it can just check youtube or google "eso builds" or something, and they will probably find Alcast's or Deltia's websites or Tamriel Foundry.
Also, this is oddly specific:

Yeah I've known my names been there for a couple of years now. I just couldn't be bothered to contact them to remove it because I didn't think they would (doubt they would comply just to be nice) and the only way was to provide an email (couldn't be bothered to make a new one to avoid giving any real ones).

Everyone who knows me will know it's not me, however I have honestly wondered how it looks now I have a more ZOS endorsed name on the forums.

Well, there's some funny pictures also. Don't know about the content of said guides, but if it includes pictures like this, then you'll definetly should not buy them.

For those of you who don't get why this picture seems funky to me: I think it is waste of gold to gold out a non-set non-CP160 items.

Well... Those people are scammers, I don't think they care about anyone's reputation.

Yeah, to say I'm suspicious about the claims to be featured by those 3 would be an understatement...

The only reason you think it's a waste to gold out a non-set non-CP160 item is because it's absolutely totally a waste to do that... Anyone who's played enough to know anything about equipment and sets will agree with you.

I cannot imagine how ZOS could allow their forum member's names to be used like this, especially if they are not getting any money from it. Companies like ZOS need to step up and deal with this, send them a 'cease and desist' from lawyers should take care of it.

Might not be anything they can do.

If the site is outside of US legal jurisdiction they can't do anything about someone profiting from their IP and as for the forum names whilst they're probably not happy about it none of our names owned by ZOS and even us (unless someone has legal claim on theirs).

The site has also had other incarnations for other mainstream MMO's for years.

yikes... at least official prima guides come with some concept art pages.... and are more then one page and don't use fake testimonials.

Khajiit is disappointed they did not use her name and good reputation to try and sell their shabby wares.

Because then it would be most obvious to all travellers that it was a despicable scam.

As if this one would have any idea what she is doing at all. The very thought...
