How to launch ESO with out steam (even if you bought through steam)

I have bought the game through steam however if I want I can play it through the stand alone launcher as well. This is why the game installs twice if you haven't noticed.

Go to where you have installed the game. Example : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client

and launch either eso or eso64 from that folder.

No need for steam if you have issues with it.

Also I have linked my account but I know my account details to log through the stand alone launcher, normally you should know your log in details too...

Good job, Sherlock. But there is one little problem: this way is not working for people who bought the game after one specific date. Every time during these "Steam errors" there is a person who talks about the way to start through eso64.exe, but in most cases it does not work. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I bought the Steam version late 2017 and it works for me.

Did you link it to Steam or did you actually buy it from the Steam store in 2017? I know from personal experience that anyone that bought if from the F2P weekend in November of 2016 going forward can't launch it properly outside of Steam. I myself spent several months back and forth between Steam and ZOS trying to get my account moved to a standard account and was denied.

That's not it. I bought mine 2/11/17 on steam and I can launch it through the .exe just fine. I didn't link my two accounts until fall/winter of 2017, but I can't find an email to get the exact date. So there is something else that differentiates between the accounts who can login and can't using the .exe

Bought it as a Steam code from Humble Bundle. IIRC I had to create an ESO account during installation after Steam downloaded the installer.
