The Future

This is in no way meant to be another (of the already too many, doom and gloom threads about the game).

But with ES6 having been announced (albeit at the VERY LEAST 3 years away), I am wondering what is in store for ESO's future. Technically this game is in the Second Era: 2E 583, specifically. So there is only so much history and time that can be filled here, ya know? Eventually ESO's history will stop and be taken over by the main titles, if we follow the ES timeline. Which is by 2E 864, which is when the game "The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard" takes over near the end of the Second Era. I mean sure, that's almost 300 more years of history to fill up.

But with a new game coming, which is most certainly to be set in the Fourth Era, or maybe even heralding the Fifth Era, will it become harder to market a game set so far in ES's past, knowing everything that is to come?

A lot of the map is still unfilled in ESO, which will hopefully change. But what do you think? Again, no doom and gloom please.

My personal hope is that eventually in ESO, all of tamriel can be explored. If I were to indulge in some extreme wishful thinking, ESO would either be remade or something and brought into the future. OR that ES6 will take over ESO's role as an MMO.

Idk, post your ideas.

the thing about the es6 is were miles away from that game for what they said they want for it. the only reason they confirmed it was so people would stop datamining things for it. the fact of the matter is what they want to make that game stand out requires technology we wont have for probly another 3-4 years then the development will really start. otherwise itll just be another boring skyrim reskin. but single player games only last so long before the multiplayer games come back into play so eso will be just fine after.

    Try 6 years almost.

We wont see anything until at least 2022 and release will probably come between 2023-24

Also we do not know everything that is to come theres plenty that skyrim, morrowind and even daggerfall didnt tell us about, plenty of mysteries left unsolved many things still not talked about many lands still not seen properly by players.

Hell theres even lyg which is the total opposite of tamriel.

    You worry too much.

ESO will still be going strong when ES6 lands, all depends what ES6 is going to be really.

If it is just a province like Highrock or Hammerfell then yes that is going to be ace to play. But the reason I started playing ESO was that we can travel all across Tamriel and beyond. As people have stated ES6 is still going to be years away, sure people playing this just to fill time for when a single player lands, will drop off.... yeah, but people wanting to play with friends etc will still will be wanting ESO. All down to personal preference really :)

As for the future, well it would be silly to do the exact same content as ES6, so I personally think do not expect to see whatever that is in ESO for a while.....or the total other end we will get to see it before. (If not in the game already) lol either way. ESO has potential to explore all of Nirn in the far future, planes of Oblivion, Aetherius and hey maybe even different worlds of the mudnus....who knows.

They have a great set of writers and ZoS works closely with other Bethesda studios to make sure everyone is on the same page lore wise/ will it fit. The world of Elderscrolls is vastly rich in lore, so plently of new stuff to see. (plus stuff we don't even know of yet)

Will ES6 effect ESO....yep....but I do not think in a negative way at all, bit of the opposite. :)

from everything they want to do with it we really have at least a decade to wait on this game. 2-4 years just for the technology to make the game.

No trust me you aren't, Skyrim brought a definitely different type of player to The Elder Scrolls, fanatical extremist and very very toxic, it's really why we have a League of Legend type of community in this game.

I miss the way our community use to be, but know it's never coming back.

I say give me my flying mounts, my flying race, and my sea race from the other continents from Nirn. :) This way we can discover the skies, and depths of the oceans. Yes I know they don't exists but what little I know, nothing is know about the other continents on Nirn so who knows what races the have.

So no matter what The Elder Scrolls does, ESO can always explore the other side of Nirn.

When I saw that they'd finally admitted to having TES6 in development, I had a minor wobble.....

Would I have to abandon ESO to play this new game??

Then I came to my senses.....

    1:- Many years away

2:- By the time it is released my current PC will be ancient and unless I win the lottery it's unlikely to be upgraded!!

BUT finally and to me the most important.....

3:- I have met so many truly wonderful people playing ESO, why on earth would I worry about a single player game!! <3<3<3
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!
