Does "treasure hunter" not work with force lock? [.. Solved?]

And, if not, is that a glitch or intentional?

I've noticed that when I pick locks I get MORE loot than when I force lock. And often better.

I only... yesterday? started forcing locks, to help me with the contraband achievement (make 1 mill from fencing loot), but it seems like I get 1 less item, and it's usually if not always a better item.

I always used to get a minimum of 2 pieces of gear from regular treasure chests, but today I got 1 green piece of gear and some gold while forcing it.

Also, if you don't know, Treasure hunter is a perk in "The Shadow" Champion point tree.

It works fine with force lock.

I regularly force lock on a character that has the treasure hunter passive, and yes, it works on regular treasure chests. I don't do a lot of work on safeboxes, so I can't speak to those for certain, but I think the Treasure hunter Passive only works on overland treasure chests. Force lock seems to work fine on safeboxes, but again, I haven't tested it to the extent I did Treasure Hunter or Force Lock on overland chests.

I wound up testing the drop rate of Treasure Hunter when someone thought they were bugged, so teh correct drop rate on a regular overland treasure chest with Treasure Hunter is:

Intermediate chests: 1 blue non-set piece, 1 blue set piece
Advanced chests: 1 blue non-set piece, 1 purple set piece
Master chests: 2 blue non-set pieces, 1 purple set piece
Simple seems like a mix of non-set greens and blues, and set piece greens and blues.

Without the Treasure Hunter passive, the categories are one less, so the Advanced chest will give you the non-set blue and set blue instead of the Treasure Hunter Intermediate ones.

Here's the relevant part from the patch notes, and safeboxes aren't mentioned:
"Treasure chests found in the world have a chance to grant any set piece that can drop in that zone.
Simple chests have a slight chance of dropping an item set piece.
Intermediate chests have a good chance of dropping an item set piece
Advanced and Master chests have a guaranteed chance of dropping an item set piece.
If you have the Treasure Hunter Champion Passive, both the above chances and quality of an item will be improved."

Okay, though. should I be getting only 1 green piece of equipment from a simple chest with treasure hunter, or should I be getting 2?

Also, is it worth mentioning that I've noticed this in summerset?

Treasure hunter raises the level of the chest by one tier. A simple chest typically has no chance for a set item. An intermediate chest will have a chance for a green set item but not always. Advanced will always have a set item, blue I believe. Master will always have a purple set item. With treasure hunter active just bump your chest up to the next tier. I think that Master with treasure hunter has a chance at a second set item which is blue in addition to your purple item, but not sure on the exact mechanics on master chests without treasure hunter.

This is for overland chests, delve chests and public dungeon chests. It works differently in group dungeons where the color of the items inside is predetermined by the difficulty of the content

Simple chests are a little different. I've gotten any combination of 1 or 2 items from green set and green non-set pieces and blue set and non set pieces. Sometimes I get one, sometimes 2, and I never recorded enough data to guess at the percentage with accuracy. So a Simple chest can drop a single non-set green and some gold, and still be functioning normally with the passive.

However, Intermediate chests will drop one set blue and one non-set blue piece 100% of the time with the Treasure Hunter passive active. So that's the easiest way to test for sure that your passive is working correctly (mine was, as of tonight).

So, thanks everyone for the input, I have been trying with an without force lock, and it does seem to be working about the same. I've just been having a bit of bad luck with simple chests a guess, I used to get 2 items, but I've been getting a lot of 1s tonight. Weird.
