now that im no longer clueless when it comes to 1h&shield, please ZOS make the 1h from 1h&shield apply the same effects between axe giving bleed, dagger giving crit, maul giving pen, and sword giving flat damage, i dont see why these bonuses wouldnt apply

    They should but 50% at most, since snb is a very clearly defensive line. However there obviously ought to be a difference between the weapons used in the main hand.

    exactly, defensive line, so why cant i use a dagger/shield to increase crit vigors, sounds silly to me

    S&B should't be defensive only. You have a sword which you use for attack. Damage should be done, big time.

    Which passive would you like to give up for these extras? SNB already has a passive which increases weapon damage by 5% and reduces block cost and increases mitigation. Does that mean that 2h and DW should get half a block cost reduction?

    The passives for the skill lines are fine as they are

    The S&B skill line is already incredibly strong due to the number of powerful buffs and debuffs it gives access too. Even the raw damage output is decent because of bash weaving.

    It doesn't need anything extra.

    SnB already give major defile and 5% Wpn damage and minor heroism and armor debuffs

    Those are unique DW passives. If you want them you should have to use DW. Besides like others have explained, SnB is good already.

    While S&B does provide buffs and defile the dps could be improved on whether that be through the OP's suggestion of giving a weapon passive bonus for the one hand or through some combo damage bonus unique to S&B.

    It doesn't make a lot of sense why there's no difference at all between a Sword, Axe, Mace, or Dagger when it's used with a Shield. It would be nice to be able to use S&B in PvE as well for something other than just holding block.

    S/B is my preferred playstyle, and I’ve always thought it would be cool to have weapon effects attached to the skill line similar to DW with daggers for crit %, axes for bleeds etc. However, I will echo what others have said in that the skill line is already extremely strong with the passives and debuffs available. It’s actually quite underrated IMO, as LA/Pierce/Bash combo is cost-efficient and devastatingly effective with the damage it puts out.

    The cost of Pierce Armor and Bash is roughly equivalent to a Dizzying Swing but without the cast time and clunky animation, so it is quicker and far more accurate. I also use Invasion, which I also feel is underestimated for its sheer efficiency as a gap-closer with a 4 second stun and decent damage. This is from last week on my stam sorc using s/b in bg’s
