3rd Time ESO booth failure posting.

For some reason ZOS has the impression that a booth mostly dedicated to Elder Scrolls Online has nothing to do with the game. PROMOTION of the game IS the game, and since the promotion side of Zenimax is a complete joke, and they don't like criticism, here it is again (to be banned for the 3rd time).

(P.S - sorry for double post. Zenimax decided my original OZCOMICON post wasn't ESO themed enough, which as below you can see it clearly is, so they removed it. Sorry you missed out on all the cool cos-play, but ZOS is against fun, even when branding their own products.)

Just finished an amazing weekend at Ozcomicon and completed lots of quests and got lots of loots.

Although I had a spectacular time the only letdown was the Bethesda Booth. It was released very late that there would be an opportunity for people to be made up as high elves and apparently 5 people would be lucky enough to make the Bethesda Elder Scrolls site. Being an avid and 4 year veteran of the game this prospect excited me greatly. I booked my appointment (it was very busy and managed 5pm). Upon returning at 3pm to see where things were going we were informed that the photographer had left, and any rebooking for the next day would also involve the lack of a photographer. Dream shattered. 2nd cosplay costume that I'd packed specifically for the photoshoot a waste of time.

I will state though that the customer service was excellent trying to supply the conventioneers with the limited resources they were supplied with, but in conversation with the chief of staff the points were raised that:

a) in the brief and short giveway periods there was not a single elder scrolls piece of mechandise, even though one entire side of the booth was dedicated to Sommerset.

b) the manager, agreeing completely and describing to me that for ages they had been imploring with the higher powers, sided with the view that it is an affront to the austrailain convention patron (and long term Betesda supporters) that we had no access to special rewards for visiting bethesda booths, especially ones so revolving around the Elder Scrolls game. Monkeys, Pigs, codes etc have all been a luxury of american comicon patrons, and we would hope that one day we would be shown the same coutesy.

I want my Limited Editon Australian Monkeypig!! So yeah. A bit disappointment about the lack of love.

ESO devs and mods are a special kind of Carebear... they can't handle criticism. They'll lock this one too and likely ban you from the forums or give you a stern warning.

May I also add that ZENIMAX and BETHESDA were printed all over the booth, along with screenings of Sommerset. ANYTHING with these names on them is 'promoting' the game and should be considered with the upmost respect and actionability. Saying that it was only to do with MY experience and not the 1000's of people who were similarly disappointed is a joke of a company outline.

Anyway, long story short. 1st convention = awesome, 4th convention = non existent

The difference between the beginning and the end? Patronage

How many people were there? How many for ESO specifically?

Costs money, even a minimum wage booth worker is a hell of a cost.

I just don't see them getting their money's worth by going full board. And quite frankly can't help but think the photographer was sent home for that very reason

Twould be nice if this was the case.

a) the photographer was booked solid for 2 days beyond 5pm each day. Left before 3am first day and never returned.

b) they were literally handing out elf ears so cost didn't seem to be an issue.

c) it was their FIRST ozcomicon. You stated the first of your game was awesome, and youd think theyd try for their first year. not ZOS. FAIL.

Try ESO Reddit rather than these forums. These forums can be damn stodgy at times. Reddit has fan-girl problems where you get downvoted if you word anything negative. Or don't make them laugh "cause they at work where they can't play TESO and they bored entertain me big boy." But they can be much more sympathic than these forums. And they have always supported the cosplay community.

I didn't post it because I got sde tracked, but I did wanna say I do feel bad for you guys and wish it could have been better. I also wanna say you should post your eso cosplay on the forums. I and many others would love to see.

I also don't want the thread locked. I feel like it's a worth while conversation.

I don't care if the booth had a sketch related to ESO drawn on a crinkled up napkin from the booth worker's lunch. It had something to do with ESO at that point, and should be allowed to be discussed on the forums without fear of the thread getting locked... twice. Just include a clause at the end of your post promoting the crown store, and they will make sure it stays active and on the front page

BTW if you'd like to see SOME of the pride of ozcomicon cosplay then feel free to use the search option top right and type 'OZCOMICON'. The first post had some awesome pics (though no high elves as they'd basically shut down that entire side of the display beyond a coupla of half-arsed medieval looking high elves sitting around looking bored on logs - at 2am on the FIRST day).

How can the Elder Scrolls Online booth at Oz comicon not be relevant to Elder Scrolls Online?

I don't understand why they're locking the thread. Unless they really are locking threads they don't like seeing, which is very sad. A bad experience for all fans visiting the eso booth = lock thread?

it was a Bethesda booth...somehow you'd probably need to find a way to contact the Bethesda marketing team to get your voice heard...

these are zenimax employees...they won't respond differently then what they already have...

So I'm trying to dig out photos from myself and friends of the 'Bethesda Booth'.

To try and explain, one side had 3 small display cases full of unaffordable gizmos and a screen that every time I saw it was playing the Sommerset trailer.

The 2nd side was a complete Sommerset backdrop for the photos (which didn't even happen for 90% of the patrons), complete with rocks, moss, 3 high elf maidens, a makeup booth, an organiser......... and nothing else. It almost seems as though they made 5 people up as elves, said 'youre the winners', took the photos and then buggered off.

Saying that this booth was NOT a one-sided promotion of Sommerset is a fallacy, and yes it's a shame ZOS shut down 2 threads before finally allowing one through. And BOTH threads were exact copies of the above OP (except one had some bodacious vault86 cosplay girls in it (um. hello. Bethesda).

Thanks so much for the feedback. The photo and day meant a lot to me and it was a complete fail

in that respect. (Still had a ball finding things non-Bethesda to spend my golds on).

trying to think of a decent analogy, but, i can't...

basically whomever the mods work for is just gonna tell them to say "that ain't us"...

you have valid and important feedback thpugh - these are just the wrong folks to feed it to...

Interesting and probably very relevant information there and perhaps 99% of the problem. It baffles me why a company would allow another company (who's also marketing their own software) to have such influence over their marketing. ZOS basically screwed Australia, let Bethesda do it without a shrug, and severely damaged their new player base (and old).

Anyways thanks again for the advice. I'll start contacting the right people and start tearing people new poop-shoots. I am so getting my Limited Edition MonkeyPig!!!

Don't you think if someone keeps locking your threads, and you keep .asking the same one, just to be locked again, eventually you will be suspended, or banned? They do see the person making the threads, you sent hidden or anything. It just seems like a risk not worth the "reward".

Honestly don't waste your typing on these people just think to yourself all those other thousands of customers all left thinking what a joke ESO is.. Take heart in knowing Zos are killing their own game we don't need to do anything.

That doesn't look good on Bethesda or Zenimax. Why bother having a booth of you're going to halfass it? But this isn't the best venue to draw attention to the matter. Take your complaints to Twitter or Reddit for more impact. The community here already knows what Zeni is like, and the forum mods can't help you.

Due to the type of conversation you want to have, ESO Reddit or even Bnet would be a better place for this discussion.
