There is no easier way in this game to pull acceptable damage than a magic sorc running a few pets. The rotation is simple, short, and circular. You will have high survivability and little to no sustain issues. While I dont think Alcast builds necessarily cater to min/maxes, they do very well for players like yourself. It seems that you are someone that wants to improve and run all content, but isnt going to worry about trying to break 50k. That is Alcasts target audience, and his builds are very good for that. It will give multiple gear options, depending on what you have access to.

You do realize a lot of his builds are BIS end game builds right? Kind of the definition of min/max’ing. He just includes alternative gear sets you can run if you don’t have BIS yet.
And to OP he is right there is nothing really easier to pull decent numbers on than a heavy attack pet sorc build. Their damage isn’t bursty but is consistent thru out the fight and you can pretty much ignore resource regen entirely with it. Also very easy build to beat VMA with if your newer to it.

His recommended bis build for magdk has elfbane....its a meme...
Gear and build will only get you so far. You need to learn to animation cancel to really up your DPS.
Also, the meta is really a myth. Sure someone else can do a build and get huge numbers, but unless it makes sense to you and how you play, your going to be middling. Play a build that makes sense to you and you will closer to the Meta and have more fun doing it.
So, here is your cookie cutter build.
1. Use a rotation that starts with a buff, then adds a DoT or two, then has a spam damage skill. Have a recovery or shield skill to use as needed.
2. Wear gear that makes sense for the first point.
3. Make sure you invested SPs in all the passives for your class, weapon, and armor.
4. Make sure your champ points are logically invested for what you do.

Very true. My magplar can outdps all except the very best of magblades on fights with tons of movement.

What gear and roto are you running on your magplar? Ive been messing with mine and cant seem to best 42.5k solo. 51k group. Im currently running zaan, bsw and siroria. I would really like to best 45k solo on him and i know its doable.
