Hi my friends

I´m playing the game for one month now, and had my first toon at lvl 50.

Now i need to do a new one so i can play pvp at Kyne :)

I was looking at some classes and races to make my new char, and decide about a Stamplar.

So i need some tips about this class, can i be ok in 1v1 or how can i not die in 1vX, and things like that.

Do i need a staff? 2H?

any tip will be good

thks

For templar I have decided I like tanking/sustaining and then lining up an almost unavoidable flurry or burst combo. I used to play it as a sniper and focus on speed, purify, and really high vigor ticks to survive. Now we don't have major mending and our sustain isn't as good without repentance drawing off the engine guardian. If you check out deltia's stamina templar (orc, heavy, shacklebreaker, troll king, etc) you'll notice some old principles. Tanky/sustainy/self healy/speedy defensive priorities with a good weapon and excellent combos.

It's one of the best stamina templar builds I know of. I have tried max damage set ups and they don't have the sustain to survive. Tried max stam regen builds and you never defeat anyone by yourself. Gimmicky builds like blessed meridia are good for a while but don't do well against multiple opponents.

    General PvP tips for you.
    Find some friends if applicable.
    Coordinate with them
    Gold your weapons asap.(!!!!)

Learn how to line of sight
    Learn how to tap block
Learn how not to dodge roll excessively
Learn when to c.c. break and when to eat damage
    Purify purify purify
Learn when to unleash your combos.
How to apply ccs, debuffs, buffs, etc.
Always have a full stock of food, drink, potions -- immovable, speed, lingering health, detect, weapon power are all good.

Hey @Metemsycosis thanks for the answer.

My big question about a Stamplar is that if i will have a good combo to win a fight, or to cause a little trouble. I really don´t want to just stay there just tanking till i´m dead.

Some heavy arnor sets, like ravager, seventh legion, clever alchemist, etc will help you do both. Level up dawnbreaker by killing undead. Power of the light + wrecking blow + dawnbreaker + execute is standard and effective burst . If you like the Tanky/brawler play style you basically rely on dot pressure or timing. And no, unless you run full tank you won't just be a sponge.

    Advice on stamplar: don't

Mine is a dedicated chef and blacksmith. The armor is top notch but the food is questionable because he's an orc.

Do yourself the favor and level up a stamblade or stamwarden.

I´m not a good player so if i play a NB i will just get killed before i do anything.

And i watched some gameplay at youtube, and really liked the Stamplar. But all old videos so i don´t know if it still work nice.

Yeah watch you some dovetheangry. Godplar on ps4. He recently quit stamplar and went to warden. That tells the story tbh.

Yeah, watching YouTube videos can be inspirational until you’ve already invested hours to try to mimic what they do and then realize you’re still not close to the skill and gear of said youtuber. Then you get discouraged.

I’m a Stamplar that has had a constant identity crisis over the past couple years. My advice would be to switch to a different stamina class. Or, Definitely consider a magplar once you are already really good at pvp or consistenly run with an organized group.

Edit: forgot to mention that one thing the Templar currently has going for it is its cleanse which is beneficial for Sloads. But I wouldn’t let that one little perk decide my character choice

I like stamplar - just wish it was easier on sustain.

Stamplar is really fun to play but no matter what I try, I can never find a build that has good sustain. Constantly no stam at all even when I control my roll dodging.

You're definitely limited to running bone pirate just to sort of sustain. If you don't have that or the 300k to buy the dubious recipe or 500k to buy ravager axes don't bother.

Bone pirate is easier to get than other sets too.
It's the jewels that get crazy to run.

For dubious, find a friend that will craft you around 100! There's no point in spending over 30k on popular items nevermind 300k. Plenty of trade guilds will craft you things for tip/mats, Soo much cheaper till next year when you can run the dailies to get.

I've been using the blue lava foot soup. More recovery than dubious. Switched to bosmer too which helps, but still needing 2 recovery glyphs and serpent. But I'm definitely not the best at managing stam though..

i really enjoy my stamplar...he's the closest thing to a hybrid I have...

I "avoided" the sustain issue by slotting destro staff on one bar, and, SnB on the other...

he's in heavy, so - I still have to be very judicious with my jabs...if it's a 1v1, I'll rarely use it at all, cuz, repentance is useless to help with sustain in those circumstances...

basically when I get low on stam, i switch to my destro bar...

at one time i used black rose to help fight with both magicka and stamina, shacklebreaker helps a bit with the setup I have now...my other sets are plague doctor and molag kena or engine guardian...

still, i gotta suck down pots like a madman..

he excels though in werewolf form...
