I really think we could use a system for specific roles(tanks, healers, DDs) to get the players to familiarize with their roles. The reason I suggest this is that there are countless players who seem to have no idea at all about what they're doing, or are not fulfilling what their roles require them to do. There could be tiered challenges, which introduce new mechanics and require you to do more as they progress. For example; (some of which could be implemented as prerequisites for a player to choose a specific role)
- The basic challenge for a Tank needs you to have a TAUNT and could ask you to keep the main enemy taunted (allowing few seconds of downtime so there's some room for mistakes). If you lose the aggro for several seconds, you fail the challenge. It could also have some trash-mob scenarios which require you to initiate before anybody else can with AoE abilities so you get the initial aggro.
- Following scenarios could include situations where you, as the tank, need to INTERRUPT the boss, block heavy attacks, keep the boss facing you and not the team, standing in AoE for sometime and trusting your healer instead of running around like a headless chicken and filling the battleground with AoE, using synergies(in this scenario all your attacks could do *1* damage to enemies and you would need to utilize the synergies for the team to do DPS), luring adds near the boss so the DDs could kill them with their AoE abilities while focusing the boss, etc...
For healers we could have similar scenarios where you would have to keep HoTs on allies, have bursty heals, or long fights that need you to have enough sustain to overcome.
For DDs I'd start with trash AoE fight where you would need to have at least a few AoE skills to burn the mobs down. In the following stages the focus might be on killing the crucial adds, changing your focus when facing enemies that get shields in turns or to kill the duos almost at the same time.
-Not standing in AoE as the DD.
-Rezzing someone in midfight, instead of forcing the healer or tank to do it.
These might seem unnecesary or as no-brainers to most of you, but there's an incredible number of people who can't/won't do whatever they're supposed to do. And no I'm not talking only about new players, I see people well-above 400cp who try to tank vet trials by running into the boss, taunting and starting to run around doing nothing else; or DDs that only use snipe and LA/HA and nothing else, or healers that try to do vet content by slotting only mutagen and casting it once every 2 minutes.
