About the Bethesda E3

Did you like the Bethesda E3 overall and in particular the ESO showcase?

Personally, I found it great, the new trailel in particular!

But Matt Firor looked in some way worried the whole time.
Do you think a possible reason could be the chance Fallout76 and TES6 could leech from the ESO user basin?

I think that is a quite remote chance honestly. While I will play fallout 76 on the relase along with Eso, I do not feel at all the need of another TES game.

We already have a great TES game that got updated every four months. And it's online.

Bethesda's showcases are always great and I even enjoy watching the games I don't play. I thought Matt was a bit nervous not worried. And TES6 will still take some time as it sounded Starfield comes before it.

ESO seems to be in good health (11 million players now) and does not need to fear any other game. For me I will play TES6 but never quit ESO for it.

My problem with ESO at e3 is that it did not have much to offer to the presentation.
It was essentially a re-cap of what is already going on in ESO with mention of a two other DLCs. That just doesn't make me excited
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fX_9HG1veE

Looking at it now I think it would do Zenimax/Bethesda better if they saved news of a new Chapter for E3.

Showing off the cinematic trailer at E3 would have been stronger there because they would have been hyping it up. Rather than a quick show on Twitch and Youtube.

    1. Open with a Cinematic trailer
    2. Showing off gameplay talking about new features and additions, talking about future content updates
    3. Gameplay trailer at the End.
It would build Hype around ESO, showing off how much it has changed and improved
AND it would bring more to the table of the presentation. Making Bethesda look better.

    Start with the Cinematic trailer
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnpTgepe1tA

    End with the Gameplay trailer

I think Bethesda once again stole the show. Im not even into half the games they announced but every bit of it seemed exciting and the whole conference felt jam packed with new content for all sorts of gamers.

Even Fallout 76, which I was really not planning on getting, has me wanting more information on it.

Fallout 76 is world PvP, right? Then I'll pass.

From what I understood from what was said - yes.

It's an always online game running off dedicated server's, that when you log into the game you're put into an "instance" that has you and X other players - limited # of players, rather than full open world MMO. You have no control over who you're playing with, unless you group up with friends/family/guildies/etc who then play on you're instance... and since instance sizes are limited, this will limit the # of slots to random players.

The game itself is open world open pvp. So any player you come across can either help you out, ignore you, or PvP you. It means that any other player in your instance can steal from your 'territory' if they want, kill you if they want... or ultimately nuke your base if they get access to the nukes.

And you can not stop this from happening since the game is always online. There is no singleplayer play by yourself offline. You have to play online. You have to connect to their dedicated servers. You have to deal with other random players, unless you can group with enough ppl you trust to ensure no random ppl are in the same instance as you.

Matts presentation looked last minute thrown together . Like a science project done the night before it's due . My observation of course and not to be mean but a lot more could have been done for E3 . Especially for a MMO of the year 3 years in a row .

Well, I got from the showcase, that one can play solo as well - even it is online. So, I expect that it is not just pvp everywhere. I could be wrong though - I would like to beta test it, but "a chance to beta test" is bound to the pre-order of the game. Well, so they expect me to gamble myself into the beta?- No, sorry, I am not gambling, I hate gambling - so I'll pass this mere "chance".

I wonder if they will put a NDA on beta testers, so that they cannot review the game and tell us how it really is.

The 11 million ''players'' obviously refers to copies sold, however I think ZOS said a few months ago that there were 2.5 million ''active'' players, but idk what metric they use for that, probably number of unique accounts logged in the last month or something like that.

As usual Bethesda steals the show

Doom, so, so, played the last one through once, might do it for this one
Fallout 76 seems to be a pvp game so I will skip that one
Star field has me intrigued but I know nothing and given how little we saw that thing could be years away, it could still be at concept stage for all we know
Elder scrols 6, interested but it’s gonna be at least 4 years away given how long it will take to fill tamriels map at the current rate. We saw nothing realy, it’s after star field which itself is described as next gen so god knows how long that will be, I can’t stay hyped for four years. Also if it’s solo or co-op, I’m not sure I want to go back to that after eso

Matts presentation looked last minute thrown together . Like a science project done the night before it's due . My observation of course and not to be mean but a lot more could have been done for E3 . Especially for a MMO of the year 3 years in a row .

It always does. Maybe releasing the Chapters farther into the year would give them more hype. Though if the 11 million comment is to be taken seriously (who knows how theyre counting that). Maybe they dont need to.

Well, most of them aren't playing anymore, because ZOS does count as well those accounts, which were just free trial accounts. The russian guild, I am in, all of them have left meanwhile - and so is the other guild, which I inherited. The more exciting message was the "1 million alone within the last year" - and they will be able to say this next year as well, if not even more though, because Tamriel Unlimited just got part of the "game pass" offers on Xbox, so a myriad of people will make new accounts on ESO's Xbox servers.

I was wondering if those 1 million counted how many Morrowind sales they made since that had the base game baked into it. Im sure its exaggerated. I just wish we knew exactly what they meant when they throw around these numbers.

Matt was nervous about the presentation but he shouldn't have been. It went very well. Fallout 76 was covered most of the time but I don't think the true fallout fans really needed an online pvp fallout. Besides, what's that thing with post apocalyptic survivors dropping nuclear bombs on each other lol. I liked the recap of ESO chapters and the new teased dlcs. Werewolves needed some love.

I actually don't care about those numbers - when I play I experience a rather crowded ESO at prime time and unfortunately as well a lot of disconnects at that time. Servers would need some more care, it is unusual to have that many disconnects from something, what is seeing itself as an "online service" - well, if they want to serve, they should be able to and not disconnect all the time - several times per hour is just too much.

TES Blades looks fun, already signed myself up for it.

FO76 I don't really like the sound of, but I am trying to give it the benefit of doubt. Planning to just play a group of raiders with friends if we pick it up. I CBA building sandcastles and investing in something on open world survival PvP games.

I can totally agree this ladder could have worked better to create hype, pushing more players towards the game, showing the progress done over these years.

The new trailed looked great nonetheless!
Would require them to shift the schedule and move the chapter to autumn.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

Fallout 76 is world PvP, right? Then I'll pass.
We've been asking for series like TES and Fallout to have optional co-op for so many years and they give us a Rust-like Fallout game and that's like the worst kind of PvP. This game will have hackers and cheaters, big groups dominating the world or griefing smaller groups/solo players, insecure and angry kids being toxic and dropping nukes all over the world, etc.

I too will pass on this one.
