Yesterday I got to wondering, whatever happened to Sai Sahan and Snowlily? Where did Abner get off to? I've enjoyed running into NPCs in Summerset from prior quests, seems we could run into these guys as well?

    [POSSIBLE SPOILERS, IDK]
it always felt like we would never see them again, and if so, not for a long, long time. I think it's different than seeing Naryu, Darien, etc., because the Companions were part of the main quest. I don't actually expect to run into any of them. I trust they're 'doing' (heh, video games) what they said they would be doing towards the end of the main quest when it was all emotional/feels time. except for Tharn. I don't think he mentioned he'd run off like he did.

Yeah. It's not so much that I expected to see them, just curious. It's been so long since I've finished the main quest (on my main and the only one who has finished it so far), that my memory is hazy. Maybe it'll gel more when I run another character all the way to the end.

The others don't show up, probably because
you can decide which one to sacrifice at the end

    Except for
the Prophet does show up in a vision at the end of Orsinium's main quest, easter egging the return of the Clockwork City. I'm uncertain if you have to have sacrificed the Prophet to see this vision, as I did it on a character who sacrificed the Prophet.

    And Abnur Tharn who
steals the amulet of Kings at the end of the Main Quest and runs off with it, where Meridia heavily implies that he'll spend the rest of his life trying and failing to replicate the powers you got from it. He rather wisely avoids the Vestige after this and doesn't reappear, though you meet plenty of his relations in the various base game quests.

Spoiler alert, but the whole thread is really ;)
The thing is you have to make a choice in the end and every choice results in the death of one of them. But which one, that will be different for each character. The exception is of course Tharn who lives in all versions, I wouldn't be surprised if he does show his face again one day and would certainly welcome it, great character. I never cared much for Sai and Snowlily, Mr Pretentious and Ms Drama, I always felt their main role was to provide a target for Tharn's mocking :)

    Your point about Tharn
Nobody knows how the amulet ends up back in Sancre Tor as 200-300 years later, Tiber Septim found the amulet within Reman III’s tomb within Sancre Tor. So it could open up a possibility where the vestige tracks him down, eliminates him (Meridia only said for the rest of Tharns life, never said how long he’d live or how he would perish) and so returns the amulet to the place it “belongs” (even though it belongs on High King Emeric, as we the Daggerfall Covenant are the heirs of Reman!)

Of course there’s also 200-300 years between eso and Tiber for zenimax/Bethesda to play with where the story of the amulets return could be left for another game, but this is one possibility

    As for the prophet
I think the prophet’s vision shows up regardless, it makes little difference as that is the last you see of him

If you haven't decided to sacrifice Prophet, than when you see him at the end of Orsinium, he mentioned that it's his last words, and he soon will be "going to immortal plane". So we won't see him ever again I suppose.

I'm inclined to agree Abnur Tharn will reappear, if for no other reason than (Imperial City spoilers)
Clivia is also off somewhere; I'm guessing the Tharns are going to show up together sometime down the line.

Also agree we're probably not going to see any of the others, for reasons others have already stated.

I remember when that whole thing was first talked about.

"Sadly one of our companions sacr-"

    Me: "Varen."

    "ificed-"

    Me: "Varen."

    "in order"

    Me: "Varen."

    "to"

    Me: "Varen, Varen, Varen, Varen."

    "power..."

    Me: "Varen, Varen."

    "only you can..."

    Me: "Varen..."

    "make this difficult choice..."

Me:"Oh shut up already! It. Is. Going. To. Be. Bloody. Varen! End of bloody discussion."

... I mean, who in the world were the writers expecting to pick after all that romantic build up between the other two? Meanwhile, not only is Varen responsible for the whole mess, and duty bound as ex-emperor to serve Tamriel, but also is a broken down old man doomed to die soon anyway... This is not a hard choice

You would know that if you had read the dialogue. Sai Sahan said, he and Lyris were going back to the Valley of blades and help Kasura to rebuild that sword master school. Afterwards, he would like to travel through the world along with Lyris.
Abnur either ran off to his imperial city or Nibemay and Varen said here were going to hide from the world. I assume he went back to his moth priest colleagues in Cyrodiil.

Ah, while I appreciate being chastised for not reading the dialogue, it's been 18 months since I've done the main quest and I did, in fact, read the dialogue. Perhaps my memory isn't as good as yours. Good for you, man, good for you. Plus, how long does it take to rebuild a sword master school? Maybe they were able to take some time off and visit Summerset? If you don't find the conversation interesting, the door is that way

I have completed Wrothgar's story a couple of times always before doing the main quest and I have no recollection of meeting the prophet on any of them. Does he show up on the city? Or the funeral or something?

Usually shows up for me close to one of the city gates, warns about the Daedric alliances then states it’ll be the last time you’ll speak to each other. Maybe he doesn’t show up if you do wrothgar before the main story?

Did Moth Sister Terran actually say Clivia was dead though? I do recall she said it wasn't Clivia, but it's been over a year since I did the story quest for that one.

Sadly Varen's voice actor had some health issues that made it impossible for him to come back later. :( So yes, very unlikely we'll see him again.

Technically he wasn't old, he just looks that way owing to the various ordeals he'd been through. (Witness his appearance during the long flashback quest.) But otherwise I concur; when he dropped the hint that I'd get to kill him later in the questline I was dancing in my seat.

He appears right after you turn in the very last quest of the main story line in Wrothgar. So, after Kurog's funeral, when you have to talk to the new King to turn in the quest, Varus will make an appearance right behind you.

Possibly. Since he seems to say this will be the last time we speak, it would make zero sense to then go back to the Harborage and talk to him just fine. Which would explain indeed why I've never seen him.

In general, I kinda think this is the story with most of the Companions. Also with Emmeric, Ayrenn, and Jorunn. With the exception of Lyris and Sai, those are not going to be cheap actors to get back. So, I kinda doubt we'll see them again. I kind of wonder if Michael Gambon pre-recorded his dialog for Wrothgar back when ESO was originally in development.

This is what happens when you use expensive big name movie actors for voice over work. Much better, IMO, to stick with proper voice professionals who you actually stand a chance of being able to get back for your DLC and expansions. Did anyone really buy this game because Michael Gambon was in it? I doubt it.

Just listen to the ridiculous excuses for Queen Ayrenn's absence from Summerset, which could all have been avoided if she'd been voiced by someone cheaper than Kate Beckinsale. :|

Even worse is that (Summerset spoilers):
Her Proxy Queen cousin ALSO barely shows up. So they could have just handwaved that Queen Ayrenn was in the background somewhere and just too busy to talk to us in person. Maybe have her send us notes or something. It would have had the same impact on the plot.

Didn't care much for any the companions tbh, Caldwell on the other hand i could've listened to all day but like Ayrenn i expect because of who voiced him it doubtfull he be seen again which is a crying shame, Mr Cleese done a great job tbh with the character.

There a wood elf in Orc Dlc who i thought was a fun wee char but her name escapes me the now, could do more with her tbh
