Everyone chill. I work in IT and when a problem comes up that affects our ecommerce sites, I can assure you we work on it until resolved. The ESO staff are working on this. However, given that's E3 is next week they may be in a situation where people they need may not be available and so the team is working to resolve the issue with what they have asap.
That doesn't explain the lack of responses or updates.
Leaving players with silence for 9 hours is inexcusable.
Sometimes it's better to say nothing other than to acknowledge the issue. If you provide a revised time frame ("we believe we've isolated the issue and should have the login operational with in the hour") and it comes and goes without happening, this can create more problems.
Respectfully, that's BS.
They could at least pop in and say "Hey guys, we're working on it!", "Hey guys, no fix yet, but we're still working on it", etc.
We don't need a timeframe. We do need communication.
No it's not BS. There's only two possibilities at the moment:
1. They don't know what the issue is and they're continuing to investigate.
2. They know what the issue is and they're working on it now, but they don't know when it will be resolved.
In either case, they have nothing to report.

**Logged In Successfully Finally -- Here's What I Did**
Just encountered this issue of not being able to login / found this section of the forums.
PC updated Steam tonight. After this, ESO would not allow login for me; tried probably a dozen times.
Since then, I got mine working and am now logged into the game.
Here is what I did --
1. Unplugged router. Waited 20-30 seconds.
2. Shutdown computer.
3. Turned back on PC and plugged back in router. Waited until router fired back up.
4. Went to my Data --> Steam --> SteamApps --> common --> Zenimax Online --> The Elder Scrolls Online --> game --> client folder.
5. Opened up "eso64" application from there.
6. Put in my login information.
7. Boom. Logged in just fine and right into game.
Zero idea if the "Steam" method will work right now. Don't care. In game. Worked for me. Gleaned from prior notes in forum there was a chance this would work. And so it does.
Be well.

That will only work if your account was made before December 2016. Newer accounts can't bypass Steam.

Sort of. With a caveat.
Supposedly the Steam ESO accounts stopped being issued CD keys then. So if you made your Steam ESO account before then, the word is that you can use eso64.exe.
However, if you have/had a regular PC ESO account, and you link that to your Steam purchased game, you can still use eso64.exe. In that case it doesn't matter if it was 2016 or yesterday.
I tried this, but it wouldn't take my password, and still wouldn't let me on.Patrickaus wrote: »So, I just navigated to C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client\eso64.exe and clicked on it and it allowed me to login!

*Sigh* I wonder what's on Netflix right now.

If your steam account was made before December 2016 and you are able to use the client directly, do not use eso64.exe -- it was causing me all kinds of desync/disconnection problems that stopped as soon as I switched to using eso.exe.
There is no 32-bit client any more; I don't know why they keep the eso64.exe version in there at all.
