Can you pull 30-35k DPS without Maelstrom weps

I did Maelstrom once and it made me want to gouge my eyes out. Unfortunately, I got a 1H&S and not something useful. So my question is, is it possible to pull 30-35k DPS with Maelstrom Weps? Parses would be appreciated.

Yes (I don't have a parse at this moment). On PTS testing with Arms of Relequen (not perfected) and Advancing Yokeda (dual wield and bow for when I did non vMA testing) and Selene's I still got almost 40k. ~~~42k With vMA

Maelstrom weapons are worth about 2k DPS for Magicka and maybe 5k at the most for Stamina. Considering that most of the top players easily hit the 40-45k range, it's completely feasible for both Magicka and Stamina.

I pull right at 30 with hundings, spriggans and kragh. Stamdk.

With practice I got to 30k with juli and willpower with normal gold staffs and skoria.

Rotation keeping up buffs is more important then gear it's when you hit that wall of dps and want to push it you need that gear to go higher.

Have not done a dps test yet since summerset but I'm sure I'll get even higher with the 2 handed change.

Yes high dps is a combination of factors so you can still be missing a few and pull good dps.

Yup. Plenty of people I know don't have their maelstrom bow yet and are easily hitting 30k+

Yes.

Additionally, maelstrom is like, 10x easier the second run, so if you decide you do really want it, completing the arena will be a piece of cake. Fighting the RNG, on the other hand...

30k absoultely, i know becauase i did it even with 300 ping...

I haven't even attempted maelstrom arena yet.

This is a non-pet 31.5k parse from last patch using Apprentice Mundus, Bi-Stat food, Llambris, Julianos, Willpower, and random staves. It will probably perform better this patch due to the light attack buffs.

my two cents. No vMA, no trial gear, hell - even no BoP gear. Full CP.
- Sorc: 30k+ burst for dungeons with Overload (Elegance + whatever);
- Pet Sorc: 32K infinite sustain with classic pet+dots rota and new Elemental Weapon skill (Necro + Destro + whatever monster set);
- Templar: 32k burst for dungeons with PL, some dot and SweepSweepSweep (War maiden + Soulshine + Grothdarr);

I stay around 36-37k on StamDK with 5HR, 5VO, and a Masters Bow. I’ve ran vMA probably ~50 times and never got a Bow so I ran vDSA twice and got a Bow. Also works fantastic for PvP

2 x Kra'gh's (Divines)
5 x Warmachine (Divines)
3 x Agility (Robust, Weapon Dmg)
1 x Masters Axe (Nirnhoned, Poison Enchant)

We are in the same boat you and I... 50+ runs of vMA and no bow to show for it, everything else multiple times though.

I'm not convinced vMA weapons are worth anything at all for dps. Sure you don't give up 2 set bonuses all the time with it back barred but you still give them up at least 30% of the time. That works ok if it is a proc set you are giving up and you can control the proc so as to be on cooldown when your on back bar but otherwise I think you end up loosing with vMA.

The only vMA weap I think is genuinely helpful is the resto as a back bar in PVP for resource management. Most of the toons I have using vMA weapons are not my primary toons just alts that are using them as random gold weapons because I had them from days gone by when they were good. I'm sure this messes up the analytics that ZOS uses to make all their balancing decisions since they don't really play their game. They probably think that since a lot of toons have them equipped that they are good. My crafter is all gold sharpened vMA. He is so OP, the crafting table be melting in his deeps.

For a strictly PvE environment, vMA bow outperforms every other option consistently. Especially on AoE fights.

Yup, 30k is nothing special with a bit of practice. I am at around 37k without the vma bow...

In single target the maelstrom bow is 1.5k ish by yourself... And at maximum 3k single target with raidbuffs.

Maelstrom staves are actually more dps than that... Given that you can retain a 5 piece bonus on the back bar now, it'll likely be a very small difference. I wanted to test non-maelstrom setup for a while now bur I didn't have the time yet...

i pull 37 with hundings VO and selenes (no vma bow) on my stamplar, it's very doable! with tfs i get closer to 40
