Morrowind downgraded to a DLC?

Curious to see that Morrowind is now considered a DLC instead of a Chapter. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think this undervalue the worth of a Chapter such as Summerset?

Pretty much. I guess it just means you pay £25 for a Years early release

I assume it's going to become a theme. Orsinium Wrothgar could of been a chapter with the amount of content it had, but was a DLC. once the next chapter comes out they might downgrade summerset too.

No. Long term it's probably a good idea for the overall health of the game. It means someone coming to ESO in a couple years will only have to buy one expansion, and sub for the rest, rather than needing to track down a bunch of boxes that are hard to find, or coughing up for six expansions.

I'm less thrilled that Wrothgar had it's price point increased, but since I sub, that doesn't really affect me.

They did gut it a bit to make it a DLC. They took away Warden (it's a seperate purchase), battlegrounds moved to base game, and CE stuff (and preorder) moved to it's own pack.

I imagine we'll see the same with summerset next year, with jewelry crafting being the "sold separately" bit.

To me, it makes perfect sense. Look at WoW (only other MMO I'm real familiar with) they don't expect you to buy every expansion ever when you start - just the latest. Sure it's not included with ESO, but at least now a plus membership covers it.

I'm on console so don't get to play Summerset til tomorrow (yay, tomorrow!) but, from what I've heard about it, I can see them splitting Summerset and Psijic Order into two separate DLC's.

I would think that Jewellery Crafting will be made base game tho, same as battlegrounds will be/was. It just doesn't make sense to me to keep a crafting skill permanently locked behind a paywall, any more than it did with battlegrounds

their not gonna be seperate they cant have summersets story without the psijics stuff but jewelry crafting just pony up the money or just go farm trials(which farming trials is much much much easier unless your a merchant)

Ah, I wasn't sure they were intrinsically linked from what people were saying about them! Even without that, my money would still be on JC becoming base game tho - but I know that might be unreasonably optimistic of me given how much ZOS likes to disappoint us! :D

listen jewelry crafting aint all its cracked up to be unless you have over 4 million to spend on one set of rings to gold them out.

The Psijic Order itself no, but they could split out the Psijic Skill line if they either include Artaeum, or move Loremaster Celarus somewhere else - it's a separate questline.

then what would be the point of arteum outside of story(which people normally do once anyhow in dlcs) it would just totally destroy the factor of them even adding it in the first place

It was always a DLC. Summerset is a DLC. You're just paying a premium for not waiting 1 year.

Well now you know to wait one year after each release and save yourself a whopping £25.

Morrowind always was basically a DLC combined with a new class and PvP mode, it makes sense now they've got a new chapter to promote that they'd look for a way to scale it down and 'converting it' back into a DLC is probably the simplest option. And yes, most likely the same will happen to Summerset next year when the next chapter comes out.

Admittedly it doesn't affect me since I don't subscribe - I have to buy all the releases separately regardless of what ZOS calls them so it doesn't really matter to me how they market it. I might have a different perspective if I was a regular subscriber and found out I'd basically paid full price for one year's 'early access'.

As it is pretty much the only consideration going forward is whether I want to buy the full pack together or wait and buy just the bits I actually want. Although I definitely wanted both Vvardenfell and the warden class, and Summerset and jewellery crafting, so there's no benefit to me in waiting. But for future chapters I might do that if I'm not interested in some of it.

<Officer Barbrady voice> Move along, nothing to see here.

This is standard for ANY MMO. When a new expansion comes out, the previous one is usually included in the "base game". This is so that someone that's just NOW starting the game doesn't have to buy all the expansions. World of Warcraft does this with their "Battle chests". You can get that for around $30 and it will contain ALL this game's expansions.

@lillybit that would be awkward. You need to talk to the psijiic people as part of the main summerset questline, so I don't think that would make sense.
