Does a NB PvP DW Build not exist?

Cyngar
Cyngar
New to the game and trying to find a PvP/Leveling Build for NB and it seems they are all 2h/bow for pvp. Is DW/Bow not appealing or gimped for pvp?

You can try 2h/dw setups, Its pretty common for bleed builds to go this route. dw/bow is a lot harder due to lack of cookie cutter 2h abilities, but doable.

The problem is that in general you lack a good burst heal, and a good source of major brutality. Rally in the 2h tree offers both.

Of all classes, I think Nightblade works best with dw/bow since it has a powerful class execute. A decent front bar setup would be: Vigor Ambush, Cloak, Surprise Attack, Killer's blade, Incapacitating Strike.

The difference between dual wield and 2 hander is a dual wield build isn't using much of the dual wield skills on a nightblade. The two-handed skills are far more useful to use with a nightblade build, especially if that build is centered around the Asylum 2 hander. Instead, a dual wield build is mostly using the passives that the weapon skill line provides and using class skills for damage.

For a bow back bar, Snipe, Poison Injection, Aspect of Terror, Leeching Strikes, Blur, Dawnbreaker/bow ult. All provide a solid back bar setup.

I'll have to look into that, almost defeats the purpose in my mind of a rogue type class to run around using a 2h

I wouldn't call nightblade a ''rogue'' class, since it is a better brawler than stamina dragonknight.
In ESO you have to drop your medieval fantasies and see classes for what they really are. With the very same logic my fury/seventh legion stamDk really sounds like a ''berserker'' type of class, but in reality , what kind of berserker would ever use Sword and shield? So yeah, I hope you get my point, ,in the end if you want to use a dual wield nightblade, or a dual wield DK, go for it, but there is a reason why everyone uses 2h, Its really, really good.

Dual Wield builds are pretty frequent now because of all the bleed builds arounds. You can go either Eternal Hunt/Senche/Selene for a solo build that hits hard with more survivability (Dw/2h), or Zaan/Sload/Sheer Venom for cancer (DW/bow)
Former Empresses: Saliva Bortschion (MagBlade), Janet From Finance (PvP MagSorc), Carla Swagan (Tank DK), Estelle Born (StamBlade), Enya Arsenal (MagPlar), Anita Nurse (Magplar Healer), Bearback Brigitte (Magden), Rachel Justice (MagDK), Nicole From Payroll (Stamden), Bailiff Belinda (PvE MagSorc), Féline Dion (StamDK), Septic Tank Tina (Necro Tank)

The runts: The Trolly Spirit (Tank Sorc), Floods-Your-Basement (Warden Healer) Dinah Asthma (Magcro), Total Top Tony (Stamcro)

    The traitor
s: Janis Javelin (Stamplar, EP), Barbecue Becky (Magblade Healer, AD)

PvE: Gryphon Heart, Immortal Redeemer, Flawless Conqueror

    GM: Animal Control

I run a DW 2h build. You lose major expedition which is a huge buff for pvp. Which means you have to use potions for it and lose out on other effects.

Currently running Bone Pirate Truth Selene 5medium 1 Heavy 1 Light
    Woodelf
    41k Max Stam
    5500 Weapon Damage
    2500 regen base
    40% crit
If Swords without bleeds 25k tooltip upfront Dawnbreaker

    Low magic pool and regen
    Low health

Non-2H builds don't really work very well outside "gank builds" that aim to end fights quick.

There are many reasons for this, but the main issue is the lack of burst heal. As soon as your cloak is countered somehow you're 100% reliant on Vigor outhealing all DoTs & no burst damage hitting you - needless to say it's pretty unlikely to survive those scenarios which are getting more and more common every patch.

Any build using sload for instance can disable cloak (your "damage shield"/"burst heal" when not running Rally) almost entirely.

There is only 1 reason to run dw at this point.
And people will forget about it if they haven't already.

"If you are building your gear sets in a manner attempting to have each bar with both 5 pieces such as:
Front bar: 1 swords seducer, 1 sword julianos
Back bar: 1 sword seducer, 1 shield julianos

Because a 2h counts as 2 of the same armor, you can't split it up like this.
    "

Even though this build style can benefit you, running a 2h sword with access to forward momentum or a 2h staff with access to destro passives, vastly out performs the above build style.

Without Rally from 2h you are going to die. Especially now that everyone is wearing sloads that drains your health and keeps you from being able to cloak. Sloads+ bleeds and poisons and no cloak is a death sentence.
Its gotta be either 2h/bow or 2h/dw.

Because ZOS decided that the class focused on single target killing didn't deserve an in class major brutality buff so we all got our testis nailed to our 2h weapons. I hate it but that's how they designed it.

You can definitely do dw/bow with recent Dark Cloak change. Not really ideal when snared or require huge Rally heal but doable with HA for body.

If you want a good dw set up, you can either run:

    “BiS”
    “Meta” 1)
5 spriggans, 5 hundings, 2 Monster with a master bow or any of the two sets bow. (Since it counts as 2 piece now)
    “Meta” 2)
3 agility, 5 bone pirate, 2 Monster, and any set that gives you damage with two piece.

Non “meta” aka the fun side
Any set that gives you 2 damage stats plus stamina, any set that gives you one damage or two.
I would try dreugh king if you want to go down that route either jewelry and 2 1h’s or armour for “tankiness”. It gives you damage, crit, and major beserk which means you don’t have to run 2h for rally. Just keep in mind that you lose out on healing but you can always just cloak to get away. Either way, run a vamp for the passive bonuses. If you go ganker route, it makes the difference between life and death.

I definitely like the look of dw compared to the 2h.

In pvp, I have to agree that 2-hand / bow is a powerful combo and you will probably find the 2-hand skills more useful in pvp than DW.

That being said, I still prefer DW in pvp because of my particular playstyle.

DW's deadly or quick cloak is great for mitigating aoe (inc. Dawnbreakers), and bow does have access to a burst heal. The bow burst heal is conditional on being able to cc a target and waiting a couple of seconds though.

There are some extremely strong builds with dw/2h now and before.

    Currently my dw nightblade runs:

Cyrodiil crest 5 pc (2x axe and jewelry)
    2pc skoria
5pc sloads or Widowmaker. (Serpent mundus).

If you run this on an Argonian you can run lava foot soup food for Max stam and big stam recovery since you'll hit 22-23k health in PvP (plenty for me)

Make sure to run double poison dots.

DW bar I run surprise attack, ambush, rendering slashes, cloak, and blade cloak.

2h bar: shuffle , relentless, vigor, rally , mark(or fear but I haven't needed fear in 2 years). A marked nightblade is a dead nightblade, I can handle the rest without fear.

This is just one example and it's very strong.

Skoria with widow maker and viper is extremely strong too. High burst with crazy dots.

If you're more into Max stat stuff I'd go night mother and cyrodiil crest with either veldrith, Selene, or stay skoria.

There are a ton of extremely strong combinations for dw/2h!
