The addon works when you drop combat. I find crown repair kits to be extremely useful if you ever find you have spare gems, but I know that's not a good option for most people. It can be annoying for sure, but you should have plenty of time between arenas to repair. If score is a big concern, you shouldn't be dying to even need repairs. You can finish a full run with no repair needed if you don't die.

The most annoying thing about the way durability works is that your armor deteriorates if you use the Blade of Woe to assassinate someone. You don't even have to be fighting. My armor is often completely broken after a few rounds of gathering stolen loot to sell at fences.

Since you gain experience upon enemy death and not upon cessation of combat, you could conceivably break an item mid-fight. But if you're letting your gear get so low that that becomes a real possibility, I'd say this is on you.

No its not on me, really.
If durability is effected by exp gain, then how f'in dumb. I cannot help that my daily playing time is around the time everyone receives enlightenment, thus increasing my exp gain x4. Couple this with maybe a death here and a death there, items hit 0% really f'in fast. Spending gold on either Repair Kits or NPCs so frequently shouldn't be a thing, i'm also not short-changing myself and fixing things when theyre on 10%..
