Patch to make things worthless

TimeViewer

Did we really need a patch just to make worthless items even more worthless, so now worthless jewelry we find gives no xp at all? Why do you even bother filling all these containers or even PUTTING containers in the world if all you're going to do is troll us with garbage? Or is that the point, just to troll the players? Maybe I should just stop spending money on a game that keeps trying to be so tight-fisted.

worthless is an absolute condition, i.e.... this object has no worth. if it has no worth it can't get more worthless.

Wait... they did this in today's patch? Jewelry items from urns etc. now do not grant experience when deconned?

This is the same for weapons and armor found out in the world that didn't require picking a chest or killing something. The drops you're talking about are meant as a junk item, just like the comparable weapons or armor. They also don't give much in the way of materials when deconstructed.

From what I understood random white Jewelry from nightstands, drawers etc no longer gives inspiration or mats when deconstructed? If that's true...

WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL ZOS, as if jewelry wasn't ridiculously hard and expensive to level up as it is?!

i don't follow how they are "trolling" us but it seems they removed an unintended effect. how much inspiration were you guys getting off white jewelry found in coffers? maybe .1% of the inspiration to get to 50?

Dude take your dolmens away from me, I'm not doing a single dolmen grind ever again.

Dolmens shouldn't be the only bearable option for leveling, well pretty much anything, in this game.

I mean at this point, what use do the overland items have? The items you get give no inspiration, no mats (or at least no meaningful amount) and at this point they are just making the servers lag more than they would if they would be removed entirely.

Agreed. ZOS leans too heavily on dolmens.

Dolmens were supposed to be a distraction, a different group activity, something to do in overland outside of bosses and quests. They were never intended to be central to any part or system of the game.

First of all, the white stuff that you pick up that's not stolen has always given crap IP.

Second, who needs dolmens? Only people who want to grind a skill line in a week or two.

Third, there are other ways of getting jewelry and even if you want to do dolmens, you can mix it up and get all dolmens completed on one character instead of just running around Alik'r.

I'm getting jewelry from a variety of sources (including doing writs on all characters and feeding the rewards to my main) and I'm getting close to level 30. If my focus right now wasn't so much on finding traits to research, I'd be past that.

Of course there are other ways but if you give me a way that takes 2 years to max out JC and the other one that takes 5 days there is no way in hell I am not taking a shortcut. You people remind me of the 'take off your armor and turn off your CP so overland content is hard for you' bunch...

I am not doing anything to slow down my game progress, but I had enough dolmens for the rest of my life. And now with this change I might level Jewelcrafting by the time we get TES VI.

Besides I already paid for that content, ZOS making it ultra hard (I like challenge as much as the next guy but this is ridiculous) for us to complete it is extremely annoying.

You know what you can also do? Find someone who is already level 50, send them platinum ounces and have them make rings for you. I got from 28.5 to 30.5 at the cost of 170 platinum.

ZOS is not making it "ultra hard". It's making it the same difficulty to level as other crafts.

And like other crafts, the best inspiration comes from deconstructing things made by other players/characters.

(of course, if they fixed the IP from the writs, that would be helpful as well).

I have not read if someone replied to you yet but as someone mentioned to me the other day... you can spend AP and buy jewelry in the Cyrodiil towns and then decon them. I am on Xbox so I have not got to try this yet to see how effective or fast it is though.

You can PVP and use the AP to buy bags that have a higher chance of containing jewellery in them.

You can do treasure chest farming. Decon the jewellery you get and then sell everything else and buy reasonably priced jewellery from guild stores to decon. There are players out there selling platinum jewellery for the same price or less than you can buy from the mages guild for others to decon.

Mini-Rifts have a chance to drop jewellery on the boss.

You can farm mats for several hours and then send them to a guild mate or a friend to make rings for you to deconstruct.

The white jewellery that you received previously from jars never ever gave any significant amount of inspiration/xp towards the leveling of the skill line, nor did it ever give a significant amount of mats.
Far too many characters to list any more.

I noticed this as well. I was getting about 10-15 jewelry items/day by looting stuff in Alinor and Shimerene. So I can't say that was overdoing it. It meant a small increment in JC skill line, but it was something. I have also done some dolmens, treasure hunting, dailies, geysers, etc. With all these I am at level 27 JC, able to do silver jewelry. I know people who are maxed and 9/9 traits.
I am getting close to 6 traits, which is great, because Summerset is still quite new.

Some days ago I saw hilarious zergs in Alik'r, doing the the dolmen triangle. When I joined that for 30 minutes, I got so much jewelry that ran out of bag space. It is just silly... 50-60 people spamming abilities at dolmens for xp and jc to deconstruct...
How is this OK with ZOS, and looting urns and furniture, is not? If you are not in that farm group, you can't even tag the monsters to get xp for that dolmen or the chest...

There should be more ways to level jc in reasonable time. Also the jc writs are absurd... right now they cost way more to make than the vouchers you get. So their rewards should be somewhat different until the market and mats availability balances itself.

Exactly, they need to add hirelings to balance the non existant legendary material drops in Max Tier JC writs, I have done max tier JC writs on 15 chars since basically the beginning of the launch on pc and only tally 2/10 lesser legendary mats still out of nearly 265 max tier JC writs now

Devs must be birds, all I can hear is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP

From what I understood random white Jewelry from nightstands, drawers etc no longer gives inspiration or mats when deconstructed? If that's true...

WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL ZOS, as if jewelry wasn't ridiculously hard and expensive to level up as it is?!

yea and dolmen grinds take way to long.......

If my focus right now wasn't so much on finding traits to research, I'd be past that.

    they aren't.

there are plenty of other ways to farm jewellery.

Name one way to drop jewelry that is more efficient than a 2 minute dolmen.

the statement was in response to "bearable" claim, not to "more efficient" claim, right?

I actually tried doing that but with Pewter instead of Platinum, I ended up wasting all my mats and increasing the skill by about 0.5%. I was only level 12 at jewelcrafting at that point so I was expecting at least 1 level. I'll try it again with platinum, thanks for the constructive advice.

Platinum crafted rings from another character give a max of around 7505 capped xp when it caps out around level 25 or so, or 6900 without Eso+

I just checked - these items do still give a bit of experience.

Since I've tested this for the inspiration tables on Sunshine Daydream's Guide to Jewelry I can point out that if a CP 150 (platinum) ring is crafted by another player the max inspiration it gives (without ESO+ or other inspiration bonus, i.e. from The Tower) is 5773.

However, if one were using the highest level pewter rings as the earlier poster said they did, then the crafted rings would only give 848 base inspiration (which would be helpful in the early jewelry levels but would hardly make the progress bars move much at later crafting levels).
