A new player question

I've seen a couple of popular skills being thrown around in game but i have no idea what they are to choose them

One is a sorcerer skill they throw down it looks like an aoe lightning skill and other players can press X and it does something..

The other is very similar to that but its a templar skill


Can you help me out with the names of these skills.

Lightning Splash (Liquid Lightning / Lightning Flood)

Spear Shards (Blazing Spear / Luminous Shards)

Man they work the same mechanically but there is a massive damage difference between the two..

Welcome to the world of sorc v Templar, lol.

Templars have a lot of skills that act as support for group play, and shards is one that offers resource regen for allies. Resources are scarce in eso, so any time you see an ability that returns magic or stamina...and to some degree health...prepare to pay a steep cost in lower damage.
