The goal here is to look at the metagame shift with Summerset and take a look at how this set has affected the classes differently.
There are already threads discussing whether or not the set is overpowered or unhealthy for the game. So please stay on topic, we're here to talk about meta changes affecting the classes differently.
So lets see our lucky contestants!
Winner#3: Magicka Dragonknight
Multiple dots make proccing Sloads easy and consistent, plus totally unavoidable damage makes slowly whittling down enemies (mDK bread and butter) much more effective. Only problem is that mDKs really like to block to mitigate incoming damage, and bypassing that block with oblivion damage really hurts.
Loser#3: Magicka Nightblade
Having access to strong DoTs, mNBs can put Sload to good use, but don't like having used against them. Bypassing shields AND breaking cloak really stings, and it reduces defensive options significantly.
Winner #2: Stamina Sorcerer
Stam sorc has been leaning towards bleed builds pretty heavily recently, which makes Sload great for them. Stacking multiple dots enhances the set by basically guaranteeing high uptime, and the O-damage proc synergizes with the pressure-based bleed gameplay. Defensively, stam sorcs can use their mobility to disengage if another pressure build is starting to wear them down.
Loser #2: Stamina Nightblade
The front loaded and burst direct damage of the average stamblade makes getting consistent procs a difficult prospect, sloads is effective on a stamblade, but they can't make good use of it like others can. Defensively however, getting pulled out of stealth by a dot that is applied automatically and frequently is brutal for most stamblades, with no burst healing outside of rally, this can cause a lot of deaths even if there wasn't also a brutal damage over time on you.
Winner #1, The Big Winner: Magicka Templar
Lots of DoTs? Check. Pressure based gameplay? Check. All the offensive tools to make use of Sloads. Where things get juicy is the defensive options, purge mitigating 5k damage is on top of the 4 other effects they just dispelled is great, and solid burst healing means they can't be dotted down so easily. Where things really get nuts is the group support, giving team members purify and slot heals can be essential to keep people alive in the Sload meta.
Loser #1, The Biggest Loser: Magicka Sorcerer
We all knew Magsorc was going to get the coveted 1st place. Magsorc damage is hard and bursty, just like stamblade, so proccing sloads is difficult. The real damage here is how sorcs lack of self-healing outside of shielding gives them minimal defense against O-damage. At least stamblade have rally/rigor rolling off of their high attack. Even though most Msorcs can heal through sloads , the sload can keep them in execute range for long periods of time, making them take huge damage even on top of their shields as well as under them.
