Naming of pets (bears)

Ok, this most likely was asked and answered years ago but I have only just returned after 4 yrs (yea, silly me) and was just curious as to if this was ever an option or was it looked into or did ZOS say at the start no naming of the bears? Would just be a cool little feature and fun way to personalize your toon but then again maybe it would cause more hassle than it would be worth? Other games allow for it so I guess I sorta thought it would be a given here as well.
Ah well, had to ask. ;)

I didn't know you couldn't rename bear pets. I renamed most of my pets (mostly dogs). Wonder why they're picking on the bear pets or if this is a recent decision and maybe their just grandfathering it in with the bears.

Here is a better one than naming a stupid pet.

ZOS either auto remove pets in all towns, and crafting area's, they block access.

You know this is a problem fix it please.

Worst case is some idiot player goes afk or whatever and makes it impossible to go through a door or anything with it in the way.

Worst pets are the winged clanfear, and the warden bear.

    FIX IT>... dummies......

@crowfl56 pets haven't had collision since forever ago.

It's a visual annoyance, but it doesn't prevent you from entering an area or interacting with anything.
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

To OP, non-combat pets can be named but it is pointless since no one can see the name, not even you outside of the collections page.

Combat pets should not be renamed since it is a skill.

It is not broken. There is no pet collision blocking access to anything. So it appears the name calling is somewhat off base.

To be fair, that doesn't necessarily stop you from actually naming your combat pets. I mean, one of my guilds habitually names our Maw Daedroths. So, if you really want to name your pet, nothing's stopping you. There's just no in game indication of what's going on, and no warning to people on voice comms that "Mr. Fluffles," is a nine foot tall, fire breathing, murder demon from hell.

Do not see how pretending to name something is relevant to my comment or what OP is asking. Heck, some give bosses nick names.

The Warden Bears do stop you interacting with things. In Vivec City for example, if a Warden is there turning in writs, their Bears have a habit on standing on one of the boxes, which prevents other players from being able to interact with it.

    *Off-Topic*

Pets may have no collision but they do get in the way of your interaction. If a bear sits its backside on a container, you will NOT be able to interact with it. I particularly remember one time I was trying to check a backpack for possible loot and there was some person standing on a crafting station nearby. The bear stood pretty much on top of the backpack so I could not interact with it no matter which side I tried. I waited. And waited. And waited. And I was about to punch someone in the face when they finally decided to take two steps away... and I checked the pack for a Sheaf of Blank Parchment.

If a flappy bird hovers between you and a crafting station you will NOT be able to interact with said station until you find a way around where there is no pet between you and your objective. This is extra annoying when the station is tucked against a tight corner and there's two Twilights. It requires some jumping skills to get on top of the scenery so you can actually use the station.

The same is true for doors, NPCs etc. Anything you can point and click at will be BLOCKED if there's a combat pet's hit box between your crosshairs and the interactable.

Indeed. This happens to me almost every time I go to Vivec City when I try to interact with the crafting stations and writ crates.

No, it's not "pretending" to name anything. You can name your bear whatever you want. It's only "pretending" if you don't actually call it that.

Yeah, this is a real issue. The best solution would be some careful culls to their pathing, but just letting us interact through them would be a life saver.
