Would you use the same build/play style if ESO was single player?

Super curious if people would play the same way if ESO was single player.

I know for a fact, I would not. Right now I play a stamsorc, for survivability+DPS. My builds on any of my characters are designed around needing to fit the DPS role in dungeons. I'm sure if I didn't take that into consideration, my build would be more fun, less dps. I'd probably do a poison archer build (including alchemical poisons, which I never use because I feel like they are a waste of gold. D:), or a stamblade mainly stamina, but using a few magicka abilites.

What about you guys? And what holds you back?

Considering my build changes based on what I am doing, yes. I use a different build when questing vs trials vs PvP. Even from one trial to another I make changes.

I'm a solo/co-operative PvE player with no interest in "BIS gear", "meta builds", "streams" or anything else that forms the basis of "successful" competitive or group gameplay. I'd have no reason to play the game any differently, much tho I would miss having the other players around me and interacting with them in assorted ways - which is really what "Massively Multiplayer" is all about.

My build for single player tends to be 'sneaky archer', pugilist or Necro. As you really cannot do any of those in ESO (I'm able to snipe an enemy and kill it with one hit every single time the way I build my archers).

I assume I'd play it the same way I do the single-player TES games. So I'd have fewer alts because I wouldn't need to be able to switch build/role as much, but my main and the others I'd keep would be pretty much the same since those are builds I find fun or know to be effective, not what other people have told me I must play in order to be allowed into groups.

What? If it was single player I guess it wouldn't. But a lot of what ESO is could totally be single player... Just take out the guild traders, and make everything soloable, which almost everything saved vet dungeons and any trials are...

    I play a tank

Also in games like Skyrim I always go for "hybrid" builds. Like a real spellsword who can use normal weapons with some magic mixed in, or a mage in heavy armor for that extra protection.

a qualified yes. My current build is basically an AOE/DOT dps build, that basically blenders me through nearly all pve content, which is primarily a solo experience. It also turns out to be a reasonably handy build for more group activities, so I see very little reason to change it. That being said, I have a few alternate builds for specific occasions on my main, including a stronger solo survival based build that sacrifices pure dps for heal/dodge etc, a specialized theiving build, and even a mild tank build if a group needs a sudden drop-in tank that doesn't have to be pro-built.

I like changing builds up every once in a while, so I would use it along side other builds. I would probably have one that is more of an iconic templar/paladin build, focusing on 2h damage, with s&b back bar coupled with some heals. I would also go for a pure DoT build.

... I'd be wearing full heavy armor bashing and HA'ng all in my path with an axe and board just like every other TES game. Instead I'm medium armor DW LA weaving so I can actually kill something this week.

No because single player TES games have more flexibility than ESO because there is no strict class system.

I'm assuming that if this was a solo game the classes would be a lot more open and closer to the traditional offline TES games. I'd probably play my usual stealth based character sending summons to do my dirty work for me. Which is basically what I'm TRYING to do with my main character, but a lot less effectively.

Interesting, why is it fun then?- If there is no challenge at all. I had the problem in Oblivion, where my characters reached godlike status far too early in the game, what made it boring to play.
