PVE - New "Imbue Weapon" based rotation

I wasn't able to play last week, so I wasn't able to test myself, as I still need to unlock the Psijic Skill Line (and, based on what I've read on this forum and on what I've heard from some guildies, it will be so boring that I'm not sure I really want to go through it)

In the meantime, lot of youtube videos with "imbue weapons" based rotation started popping out. They all looks the same, regardless of the class

buff yourself with your class availabble buffs.
Place 2 dots ->
Imbue weapons -> light attack, imbue weapons -> light attack, repeat until dots are running out
apply pots & ultimate on cooldown

40-45k DPS easy.

So, PVE-Wise, I'm seeing the same exact rotation and playstile for every magicka spec.
With almost no class skills. Just two dots, then imbue weapons and light attack as spammable.

No class identity, no class diversity. Everyone looks exactly the same and uses the same rotation.

Is this really what is happening right now? Please tell me it is not true.

This is the meta and it happens in any patch. Not sure how you think this differs from most other builds posted by popular streamers. They look for the most efficient path to maximum damage or group synergy and when you’re narrowing the results to such a degree only certain gear and skill combos will get you there.

Good news is that the damage ceiling was raised so high with SS that even non-meta builds benefit.

In terms of meta? Yeah, it seems to be a popular addition into rotations, for stamina based builds at least (I'm not seeing it as often on magicka builds so far). But then again, don't virtually all of the min/max builds already utilize the same core rotational skills just with the different flavor of skills that come with classes?

Meta is great and all, but as long as I can get around 30k on my rotations, I tend to stay away from them as, in my opinion, the majority of them tend to end up doing the same rotation no matter what class you play.

A couple of YouTube videos are put out there and suddenly “everyone” is doing it?

Just throwing this out there, but Imbue Weapon is being used in place of Force Pulse for some builds, but otherwise not much has changed there.

I completely disagree with you. It isn't nearly as bad as you trying to make it sound.

Indeed elemental weapons became the main spammable for all the magicka classes. Tho this isn't true for staminas.

Also, believe me, I'm a trial and guild leader, even with the new update, not even 5% of my playerbase can reach 40k dps.

Plus, class playstyle still really set them a part. Magickas nb, magickas sorc and magicka dk have very different positioning and rotation and they all excel on a specific part of the fights. Same applies with staminas.

Yup, its also the same gear for every stamina class he uses. Till Dragonboes there was always something different, now they all look the same. Not saying that you have to use his builds, there are quite a few other interesting builds out there that are working quite good, just noticed that there is no variety anymore if you follow the meta.

In most cases it is probably the best spammable available, as its magicka morph is more or less the same as Force Pulse + the Asylum staff, while the ability itself is cheaper and procs the extra damage (although miniscule) from the Spell Orb passive. It's also really easy to weave with.

The only case where it is inferior is when a class already has a solid spammable, though this is mostly for melee builds (mag dk, stam nb, melee mag and stam templar), but ZOS is already working hard on making melee builds obsolete for endgame content, so ye..

Also your comment about the uniform rotations would have been the same last patch, just with Force Pulse instead of Imbue, so not really much has changed there.

I personally think it's a good addition to the game.
