Is Psijic order quest line supposed to be fun?

Completing the skill line one on character is not that bad, the Augur's comments are funny and the voice acting is superb. I've done it on a second character though, and the novelty wears out fast, so I can imagine that by the time one has to do it on their 4th-5th toon (not to mention 12th) the boredom must be of the face-clawing intensity

Or is it just a grind for the sake of grinding. I mean look at all the other guilds questlines, they all have a story, different objectives and don't require you to go to every single zone.

Its like hey skyshard farming was super fun, lets make another more annoying one.

I got my character to level 5 to get accelerate or 4 for imbue weapons for my stam characters, but that probably as far as I'm going and nothing after that is worth it, not to mention there is barely any story.

I worked out that the redguard woman was emotionally unstable and a threat by quest #2. Successful writing or failed writing?

Also I was bored of hunting time rips after the first time-- I expected something on Dark Brotherhood's level of storytelling at the very least (considering this is a paid expansion, not a DLC zone)

Well I'm sort of new to this and bought it anyway, the problem for me is to get to some of the places requires me to do a lot more leg work than experienced players do.

As i have not been to every area yet, the way shrines arn't open to some one my level, so not only do i have to fight off things i should not be seeing for a few more levels i also have to go the LONG way round to some of the places.

So for me it is/has been an adventure so far but if I were more experienced it would definitely be boring.

Personally I think it's supposed to be smoking a a ton of weed while mindlessly closing rifts. Meanwhile you have the Augur's ate up comments to amuse you.

The "story" feels a bit like an afterthought, like they ran out of time or something.

I'm genuinely curious, what all types of quests are there? When you say "fetch quests", it can be taken so dismissively that it ignores about 90% of the experience. It ignores the amazing looking scenery the devs put a ton of hard work into. Maybe not everyone looks at it the way I do, but that might be as much as 50% of what I get out of the game. IMO it has been surely and steadily getting better and better. The creativity and inventiveness of some of the locations make me stop and just look at things often.

I'm always pumped with being assigned a "fetch quest". It means I'm going to a new place with new dialogue and whatever else. I can't really think of much variety when it comes to quest "types". Those are and have always been the meat and potatoes of any RPG.

Would "riddle quests" be its own category of quest? Probably not but I know I absolutely cannot stand those. The microsecond I recognize something is a riddle that needs solving I instantly minimize and look them up on google. Who cares just let me kill something and get the thing.

Anyway to underline my point about how the locations have been looking lately, let me just remind you of the days of Skyrim and early ESO when it was tomb after tomb of draugr after draugr that were practically carbon copies. It's the Buncha-dead-guys-get-disturbed-from-their-slumber-and-you're-the-first-one-to-enter-in-thousands-of-years-but-somehow-2000-candles-are-burning .....quest. Oh yay. Once again.

No. Just a grind like the Dark Brotherhood assassinations.
But I would be happier if we had dangerous anomaly fields (see S.T.A.L.K.E.R.) around those time rifts.
So it wouldn't feel like a riskless and uninteresting geocaching event in the local park.

They could have at least made it so you get something from each rift or have to enter each one and fight something.

They put such great effort into the islands and overall Summerset is a great addition to the game, but this is just tediious.

The Australian/New Zealand/South African/American/English skull guy was kind of funny sometimes when I could understand WTF he was saying. That accent was bad tho. I feel bad for the actor as well as me.

But yes the story was basically laid out for you in quest number 2 and I was like...
Josajeh's gonna bring down time with her staff meddling. Why is no-one doing anything about this? She practically twirled her moustache and told me she was going to do it!

I didn't relish travelling all over Tamriel at first but I did a few dolmens, delves, lorebooks and skyshards along the way and picked a few chests, farmed some mats and portals and managed to get my jewellery up to a whopping 19!

I thought the Psijic Order line was fun but unlike most of the other players that were doing the quest, I did not simply port from point A to B to C etc.

If one took the time to look around, there were quite a number of Jewellry Ore nodes to pick up close by and plenty of mobs to practice the skills on. It was a good opportunity to pick up on Survey Writs and Treasure Chests that were mounting up in the Bank and in Chests. Some of the locales were close to Dolmens - another good source for practicing new skills. I got lots of rings to decon for leveling the Jewellry skill line as well.

By the time I completed all skills, there were only two left that were not completely maxed out with morphs. Some of the active skills are pretty awesome, when incorporated into a rotation and I have not had to buy in any jewellery for levelling purposes.

Yes, the actions are grindy, but it seems the point of the quest line is the narration from the skull. Great commentary he provides. Hilarious.

The questline is exploration content, not DPS content...imagine, content that isnt made for DPS. Personally I took my time and enjoyed it, it was a nice change of pace. Its only those people who insist on grinding through content as fast as possible that are annoyed with it. Its like questing...questing is a terrible way to grind, but its fine to do a quest every once in awhile for a break from other activities.

I was very happy about that. Just finished it on my warden Tank. The final fight took long enough doing 2k damage per second. xD

More problematic were the breaches in hostile territory.

Even questing has a story and grinding or dungeons has actual gameplay and fighting.

This questline has a comment on each location from the augur and that's it, the rest is just errand fetching

Once I looked at the maps closely the quests were really easy.. Nothing to fight, just a bit of running.. Took a few hours to get max level in psijic order.. Got my protective jewelry and tattoos. :)

By the end I was pretty fast at finding them, or running along the lit up path.. Lots of other people were doing it at the same time so I could use where they were coming from to help narrow in on the locations..

I found it stress free because there were no fights.. Almost like a resource survey.

Are the fights in quests ever stressful? :D they just help the progress of the story thats all. Of yoh have the wayshires it should be much faster but still I think its pointless

It annoyed me on the PTS but I've made peace with it... kind of. I rationalize it by the simple fact that you can max it much, much faster than Undaunted, Fighter's or Mage's.

But so far I've only been able to bring myself to max it with one of my 10 max level characters. The others just did the Psijic level 1 part to be able to see the loot rifts. I'll wait till I get a round tuit for the others.

Not so much stressful as they are annoying.. I hate getting aggro or having to kill "x" delve boss.. Fighting is a chore and not hard no , but annoying to have to stop and fight

Look the only players that don't like it are the ( I want it now crowd ).

Its a nice quest, and allows you to harvest too.

As far as harvesting goes, do something other than using ore nodes and rune nodes, that has just expanded the amount of players, ie the I want it now crowd, to cherry pick.

Man they are good at that to, constant sprint, speed gear, on and on, oh and the addon that shows on their maps nodes, they have harvested.

It has forced players to just stop harvesting ore and rune's, so you are just helping the cherry pickers get their ill gotten booty :).

did it on one of my max levels.... enjoyed it - particularly going to places that toon hardly ever visits now. got a shed load of mats, about 20 treasure chests and a dozen or so psijiic rifts on the way.

now doing it on a low level.... makes it even more interesting because this one hasn't been to most of the maps - craglorn should be fun.

    Questlines cost more work.
A story costs a writer which costs more money.
Objectives are to close time rifts, different ones requires different assets which means more money.

Crown store/crates requires no; quest, story, or objectives either! :)
You paid for a skill line with no; quest, story, or objectives essentially, only differences is that it's behind a grind and tied into the "chapter" to call it an expansion.

    Surprise surprise. :/

Sorry but the new guild quests are awful, repetitive, tedious, and lazy as hell.

Jump from loading screen to loading screen running/riding from A to B over and over, press E and then repeat 50+ times....

Is this the best anyone could come up with? Bundled with the restrictive grind fest that is jewellery crafting, traits that force you into one area of gameplay to find them, I can not understand how anyone could find this fun...
