Something you'd like to share, Raz? (Small Summerset Spoiler)

Now, it's no secret to anyone who's worked with Razum-Dar before that the roguish Queen's Eye enjoys the attentions of ladies of different species, but this comment I caught him make about Valsirenn particularly amused me:



Valsirenn, while certainly not an ugly woman, also happens to be (and look) old enough to be his grandmother:



Does this mean Raz has a thing for older ladies?

Or was Valsirenn originally meant to be younger? It's not the only time I got this impression, from the way other NPCs talk about her. She's portrayed as something of a plucky apprentice rather than the revered senior sage she's meant to be...maybe ZOS changed it at the last moment after deciding they'd overused that particular plot device? (Quen, Eveli).

That said, if she were intended to be younger originally that would explain her reaction during her first appearance...

Technically, in years, yes, but she also looks it, that's what I meant. Even if he wanted to compliment her appearance regardless, the word "pretty" makes me think of a much younger woman. "The charming lady Psijic" or something would have been more appropriate, IMO.

And yeah, that is one of the things that gave me that impression too.

Well Raz prolly isn't young himself. Hard to tell with all that fur tho. I mean you don't become queen's personal spy without years and years of expirience, right?

True "Don Giovanni" personalities (I mean, people who blindly use the means of seducing other people for their own benefit, or simply for the sake of it) always speak that way. I believe Raz is one of them.

They tell you you're pretty and smart without even looking at you or listening to anything you say. He would try to charm the Psijic woman regardless of her age, shape or form.

Besides, it works very well. Complimenting an ageing woman on her beauty as if she were still 20 works wonders. Blushing guaranteed.

Raz calling her pretty made me extremely happy. There is a ton of (videogame or not) characters marvelling over the beauty of young people, whereas more mature ladies often fall under the cliché categories of either unattractive, frustrated old crones or grandmotherly, selfless types. And that's a shame, because there is absolutely no reason someone shouldn't find an older person attractive. (I, for example, never stopped fangirling over how gorgeous Wynne in Dragon Age Origins is).

Raz acknowledging Valsirren's beauty was in my opinion consistent with his flirty persona, refreshing and most welcome.

Meh. You can say someone is pretty without being sexually attracted to them.

Raz also says a different elf is pretty, also, elsewhere in the quest-line. Doesn't mean he wants both of them in his bed. He's just a smooth-talking, suave-type character.
