Is the Warden the worst character class all round?

no i only have 1 character and its a level cp110 warden. im a very casual player and have lots of fun but i keep seeing all these posts about how the warden doesnt add up in any end game or meta game comparisons

no doubt i love playing my warden.. i will never be at a competitive level in this game so it wont matter to me either way but i feel that people who invest time in a character should have a fair chance against other classes if this class is not comparable

Not sure about PvE, but PvP they're pretty much ezmode. They have extremely good defense, sustain, and dps for PvP.

oh ya? i dont have alot of experience in pvp, i was going to wait until im at least cp level 160 before i start

I like my stamwarden so far. Shes got a burst heal, great ult generation, a ranged stamina skill, subterranean assault, bull netch and that lotus flower thing, and bird of prey that gives berserk.
I havent tried all classes yet but I think warden might have the most stamina morphs. I feel like I can have it all with stamwarden, good healing, good burst and good defense.

Magwarden is a different story from what ive heard.

sWar is great for PvP
sWar is clunky but doable in PvE

mWar is weakest of all magicka classes in PvE by far
mWar has no execute, stun or propper DoT to be any good in PvP.

My main is a stamina warden. Great fun to play since you get to speed around a lot, and there are plenty of skills to use. Going to respec into a magwarden for variety later.

Really there is no "worst" class. There are easier / harder / worse / better classes for certain situations, and I guess one of them is "top DPS doing perfect rotation that I programmed into an undetectable macro for vetHM trials" . And some people not doing that thinks it applies to them.

Not sure why you would think the warden is bad in general. The only thing I don´t like about it is that one passive (piercing cold) doesn´t really benefit stamwarden, which tickles my OCD.

subterranean assault is a weird skill imo , it never works well for me or maybe i am not using it right? i cast it and then it takes forever to do anything and the enemy is already dead before it does anything?

Im confused by this sentiment. You claim to be primarily a casual player that wont ever become competitive but express concern over their viability in competitive environments? If you invest in yoyr character but solely enjoy solo and non vet endeavors, it ultimately does not matter.

But to humor the question. Wardens both stam and mag in pvp are perfectly capable and strong. In pve stam warden is solid and warden tanks have cleared vet trials. The various reasons as to WHY this is the case are not applicable to you at this point. If you truly enjoy your warden, keep playing it, and eventually if/when you become more experienced or invested in the game, the rest wont matter.

the thing is i can have any opinion about this class i want to.. regardless if i play casual or not, maybe im casual but like the idea knowing the time im spending in a class wont be a waste if i decide to step things up. you seem overly irritated because i ask simple questions.

Stam warden was and is still quite effective in pvp but mag warden is almost a potato,

Stam warden has good damage burst potential but its easily telegraphed and avoided by experienced pvpers.

Mag warden is clunky and has no decent damage on tap however it dose have some good group utility but it no good in solo open world pvp.

Also the bears AI is utter garbage in open PVP. it disappears all the time and spends all its time chancing the target.

But in a PVE environment i think bolth stam and mag are quite good although the rotation isnt as easy as other classes as things are all weird times and its just a bit of a mess.

i have to agree the bear is not very good, there isnt even an aggro ability for it

I have a stamwarden at max level. Seems to do ok. Pretty versatile class with a lot of utility.

If you're playing a mag warden, you are wasting your time.They're worthless in both PvE and PvP.

The damage is absolutely abysmal. Even if you try to build for it, any other class would be much better. The lack of on-demand CC and executes is also very bad. Even worse when you can't even slot both at once, thanks to the death-prone bear eating up both ult slots. Stam wardens can overcome much of this due to more reliance on weapon skills, but even they are somewhat sub-optimal for PvE.

You can have buffs/debuffs aplenty, but you might as well be an NPC without a group backing you up.

I hate saying it (because 2/3 of my wardens are mag), but this patch has made it official:

MAG WARDEN IS DEAD.

Play stamina warden or don't bother playing one at all.

Don't have a warden personally, but I know I've ran into quite a few good ones in imperial city and battlegrounds.

May not be great for PvE, but I've seen some of them wreck things in PvP.

Sub assault is used in pvp. You cast it before you attack. Time it perfectly so that it hits at the same time as your light weaving (animation cancelling) dizzying swingn+ executioner

Not sure. I am very eager to make two Wardens of my own, a male and female Nord. I hear they are fantastic for PvP but I am more of a PvE player myself.

I love my mag Warden in below 50 pvp........

She is just soooo easy to play!

I already have 2 more feeding mounts atm BUT if I am totally honest I'm not at all sure whether I will take any of them further than lvl 50

You can play a good healer as a templar too. But even templars have CC's, executes, and superior damage.

If you pick warden, you are choosing to sacrifice any and all damage potential (which is a big deal in a DPS-centric game like this one).

Take a look at most of the leaderboards. Notice the extreme rarity of wardens on there? There's a reason for that, and it's not because they're "gated behind a paywall."

warden is THE most well rounded class in terms of you can do everything on it okay.

magicka dps
magicka healer
magicka tank
stamina dps (best burst in the game but less dpm)
stamina healer (im serious, warden can pull it off)
stamina tank

as a result of this it is not the best at anything (thus all the people that are only concerned about dps calling it trash) if its DPS was on par it would be the best class in the game bar none and broken OP.

it is also without a doubt the best class for new players or players who don't know what they want to do or how they want to play, because it can do everything.

despite hating some of the visuals (shalks and bird) I would say its one of my favorite classes in the game because of this flexibility.

You will find most enjoyment out game, by find finding your own play style. While their some varience, by design you should be able to heal, tank or dps with any class. There's a lot of freedom to be enjoyed.

nice points, i have to agree with the visuals.. i dislike the animal visuals, i would prefer just an explosion of magic colors or something then then bird or the bugs lol
