random disappearing, reappearing trait researches

Anyone experiencing trait researches disappear at some crafting tables then shows up again on another crafting table? I have, had, have Nirnhoned for Lightning Staff suddenly vanish on me showing up as Unknown causing me to think I lost 25 days of research time wasted away. I went and bought another Nirnhoned Lightning Staff, changed zones to refresh the mail, and went to another crafting station to put it back in... it reappears in the trait research, 5 days to go. So I just wasted 16,000 gold buying the new Lightning Staff.
