light effects on weapons even when idle

i'm not sure if i change something on my graphic card settings but i'm noticing some weird light effects on the weapons now. maybe due to the drivers updates or something but i don't remember to see those light animations on the weapons while i'm not fighting or activating abilities. the problem is that i've been playing the game without those animated effects on weapons and enjoying it that way and now i don't know how to disable it :)

did this happen to anyone else? can i have the weapons without light effects again?

It's a change that came with the update... now our enchantment animation on weapons are active at all times... if you don't want them, the only way is to have a weapon without an enchantment. Personally I think it's cool, other than when it clashes with your outfit, forcing you to use an enchantment that matches your character's color palette but may not be the enchantment that you really want... or running without an enchantment.

usually using the outfitting system hides most things in the game I imagine changing the style of the staff through the free outfit you get will work out probably. Does with everything else.

i'm already using the outfit system on all my characters but unfortunately it doesn't fix those lights

i don't need those lights on the weapons and i really don't like it. i prefer my characters without shiny things and boring lights. the game has already too much visual noise. i'd really like to disable it without removing the enchantments... maybe blocking that effect on the graphic card settings. can it be possible?

You're free too tweak your hardware however you like but I would air on the side of caution here because the moment you start blocking out effects and textures you can actually break the game generally. A lot of things are interconnected in most games unless the coding for that particular effect is separated and contained. I suppose if you know anything about scripts you "could" write a logic function for it but...I think that maybe against ESOs ToS so I wouldn't recommend it.

Honestly, If I were you id make a ticket and ask if there is any potential way you can hide the effect rather than turning it off i have a feeling the effect is directly built in so removing it wouldnt be an option beyond the loss of a weapon enchantment.

i was thinking in something more basic. something that i could disable on 3D settings of the NVIDIA Control Panel.

anyway, now that i know that it is something new, i've been trying to understand what's the point of it and i'm not getting the idea. i already know what enchantment i'm using in each of the weapons that i have on my characters, also when i want to change a weapon i already can read the name of the enchantment, so... what are those permanent christmas light effects for? it wouldn't be bad if it was optional, i understand that it can be useful for some casual players, but i know which enchantments i'm using, in my case it is just more visual noise.

i was just thinking that one thing that i really loved on the outfit update was the possibility to finally get rid of those red swords on my stamina characters. but it didn't last long after all. now not only i have red swords again but the thing is also animated.

the outfit system was great, and now they killed it. this is really pathetic.

This is kinda awesome! I always rather hated how the effect was visible for like a second, then gone. It will be useful in PVP too, for identifying your opponent’s setup.

I don't see this on any other characters, just mine. Also unequipping an outfit seems to disable the effect. Does anyone know if this was actually added as a new feature, or was this an unintended bug? I'm genuinely curious.

Jesus christ what is wrong this community lol. Why do you all so aggressively nitpick with your virtual non-existent characters.

Like... it's such a minor minimal change...

To those who politely ask though, it would be nice to have a button to turn it off for you folks.

hummm... in that case it might be a bug, because i'm not being able to cover the light effects on weapons even using an outfit. i hope it is a bug.

Probably has something to do with this fix:
    Outfit System
Fixed an issue that caused weapons to fail to display the visual effects for their enchants when part of an outfit.

probably because it's something that's not needed and it's already hard to create a character without shiny materials and few light effects. remember that this is still a RPG. also... there's no point in making "minor minimal changes" on things that are already perfect.

anyway, the good thing is that this is probably a bug.

Ideal solution would be a toggle visible weapon effect in the same menu as the toggle riding upgrade looks. Everyone happy.

They gave us the ability to dye our weapons, and then basically took it away by forcing our weapons to look a certain way due to enchants on them.

Enchants should only show in combat, there's no need for my weapons to light up like red and green christmas lights while I'm standing around doing nothing. It looks dumb and everyone's weapon ends up looking the same color because most people use the same enchants.

i really hope that this thing is just a bug that they can fix in a few weeks, because if we are going to wait for a toggle it can take years. we waited 4 years for the outfit system and they destroyed it in less than 3 months.

I would like to see a toggle option too, but not sure it is that easy. Many people believe it is a BUG yet @ZOS_GinaBruno or anyone else at ZOS has yet to state whether or not the enchantment animation is intended or not.

btw... is there any enchantment with no pathetic light effects or more subtle ones?

i would prefer to use a weaker enchantment than none at all while we wait for a fix of this bug.

I took a look this morning and I didn't notice anything different (PC NA). My staves are enchanted, but they're original (not part of an outfit).

When I draw the weapon (even out of combat), there's a small animation and then the weapon has a slight glow, but when I sheathe the weapon (slap it to my back), the glow goes away.

This is how it was for me even before Summerset, if I'm not mistaken.

Is this what others are seeing? Or are they seeing the glow even when the weapon is sheathed?

I want to see my weapons, aka why I paid for outfit slots. The disease, etc effects reallly take away from that.

on my account, on all characters, the weapons are permanently glowing even when the character is idle with the weapon on the back. this basically made the outfit system completely useless for weapons.

I wonder if this could easily be fixed with a "hide enchantment" option for weapons in the outfit stations, since the enchantments were hidden before Summerset.
