check your drivers, if you're on PC (Realtek has just updated and Nvidia just updated their Audio Codec) if you are on console check your HDMI cord (Audio seems to crap out first in those)

I doubt it's the game I have two PC players and two console players in my house and it works fine for them.

    Good luck

Sounds like a personal problem, don't blame the game for it :)

My sound issue was tied to the in-game voice chat. I had no sound on my TV unless I plugged in a headset (then had sound from both headset and TV). But, found that if I leave all in-game voice chats, sound comes back! The problem is, that the game randomly shoves me into voice chats >.<

Are your speakers plugged in/turned on?

I have no issues here. (PC player)

@JonnytheKing despite what the others are saying on this thread, it is not you or your system. Earlier this evening, I did the quest to close the breaches so I could start the Psijic skill line with my main, a templar. The NPC sound was just fine at that time.

A couple of hours later tonight, I started to go through the same quest line with my sorcerer and there is no NPC sound. Nothing changed on my PC. No updates from any source. Nothing. No change in the game. My sound is fine in the game except for the NPC voiceover. My sound is fine in videos and other things outside the game.

I just logged off after completing the quest with my templar, had dinner and did a few family things, then logged back on to do it with my sorcerer. It must be a game bug since there was absolutely nothing different between the two times I logged in tonight except that I used a different character each time. So I submitted a bug report.

Every time Windows has a major update, it resets my speaker settings on multiple programs from my games to my voice chat programs like mumble. I also play with a PS4 controller, windows update for some strange reason likes to turn on the on-board speakers on the PS4 controller when I forcibly disabled them each and every time.

@phaneub17_ESO There were absolutely zero changes to my PC in the couple of hours last night between when I completed the quest line to get the psijic skills on my templar (could hear NPC dialog) and started those same quests on my sorcerer (no NPC voice dialog). What part of this do people not get?

The problem is isolated only to the NPC voice overs. It happened on my PC. There were zero, zilch, nada changes to my PC between when the voice overs could be heard playing with one character and when they could not be heard while playing with a second character. There are no other sound problems on my PC. So the problem is a BUG in the game.

@JonnytheKing I just logged on this morning with my sorc and there is now NPC sound. It was some kind of bug that happened last night and seems to have been resolved overnight. Hope it is resolved for you too.
