Lich or desert rose?

So I am currently using my Mag dk destro/resto build and my sustain is actually fairly good

But with lich the big 1000 Mag Regen is really nice, but a 40 second CD can be quite long

Surely desert rose would be better having a 15% chance to proc 2400 magicka every 4 seconds when taking damage. Of course it's probably not going to be on cool down all the time but even if it was procing every 9-10 seconds, thats still more Mag return than lich.

Am I missing something?

Desert Rose for MagDK.

Lich is great n' all, but since you're a DK it makes more sense to roll Desert Rose you can live long enough to see plenty of procs from the set.

Lich is better for builds that want to front load their magic DPS quick and have that big proc at the end to keep them a float.

DK needs more consistency then Lich can provide, Desert Rose will bring that to your build.

If heavy armour. Desert rose. By far the best regen set, since even if it procs once every 10s, its 450 regen. Comes with the caveat of needing 2x baring and getting hit enough. I'd say stick with lich in this occasion since you are destro resto, so a lot less tanky, and thus can take less hits to proc it. Also since its 1bar only, its pretty good.

If you plan on using Mist Form a lot, Desert Rose has no equal.

Depends on your play style. Snb bkock build? I like desert rose. Destro dos? Lich.

I've tried bloodthorn and didn't like the regen, and yeah that a good a point with me being light armour and destro, it can be quite squishy, if I managed to get a resto staff lich when summerset drops next patch I could run a willpower destro on the front bar and lich resto back bar

Desert rose is superior regen. Lich is better situationally. To back bar it for one example

Just FYI, Desert Rose also has a chance to proc on each tick from DoTs. If you need help factoring its relative rate of return.

Also note, DR is a defensive set, while lich is a recovery set, from the 2-4 piece bonues. Which is better depends on what you're fighting. DR may proc about once or twice per trash mob fight, while Lich is giving you one resource boost during a fight that runs long.

That stamina regen though, Sorcs can turn it into even more Magicka or break frees and roll dodges.

Amberplasm probably would be good but Ill need jewelry and weapon pieces so that's going to be a grind and a half

Alteration Mastery is way better than those two for a magDK. Not only reduce the costs of skills, but also blocking, sprinting and even Ultimates
