How many jewerly needed?

Dear PC crafters,

Monday is the day you guys will start the jewelry grind. Unfortunately we console crafters have to wait a bit longer before we can start our grind.

In order to get prepared for console launch. (Read make sure that I had plenty of sleep and have enough caffeine in house)

I was wondering if you can guys make a estimate how many jewerly pieces you have deconstructed to max out the jewerly skill line.

    Think closer to enchanting.

On the PTS, I did use about 400 white quality jewelry pieces from the Mages Guild (at 1,387 gold a piece) to get to level 18 in Jewelry crafting, and it was pretty slow going.

With ESO+ and the 20% inspiration bonus from the tower constellation you need to deconstruct 333 purple CP160 items.

That's a lot, I hope they don't make it worse in the patch notes Monday. But with 333 purples I am gonna be stuck in Alikr for a few weeks, instead of the few days I was hoping for. :s

My test character, a level 3, ESO+, no cp noob took about 1000 rings to level to 50 on PTS. I wrote down the xp from different rings, required xp at each level and xp cutoffs at early levels here: https://blog.fizban.fi/2018/04/eso-summerset-jewelry-crafting-leveling/
edit: these numbers were wrong, coming from an error in my google sheet doubling the numbers. My stupid mistake.

Very interesting, I never really got into inspiration caps. But in your artical you mention:

Max item xp: This is a level-dependent cap of xp from a single item. E.g. deconstructing a golden CP160 ring gives only 1117 xp at first level, but beyond level 28 it gives over 10000.

I am all about efficient leveling, especially if I can get the grind done faster.
So in this case it's wise, to save all CP160 purple+ quality jewerly until you hit level 28+.

    Not really.

It's only slightly more than you need for clothing, for example (roughly 300 purple CP160 items).

And my testing (link earlier) shows that you only need about 25% more of just green CP160 items.

Don't bother stock piling rings before the new chapter comes out. You won't be able to decon them.

All crafting professions have level-dependent xp caps. Start leveling with low level rings and save better rings later. You anyway get quickly through the low levels. 10% of total xp catapults you to level 25 but it keeps slowing down each level. But don't worry too much about the caps. Even green cp160 rings get their xp cut until somewhere at level 20.

Remember my ring xp table is without cp points. That may shift using purples beyond level 30. The main focus of the article was the raw numbers - not (yet) optimizing. Amount of rings was irrelevant because of unlimited resources in PTS.

That's alot more than the 333 purple items other testers indicate. Even when accounting for the fact you did not have the 20% boost from cp active.

Not being able to decon pre-Summerset jewelry essentially means, no, you can’t level jewelry crafting with said jewelry.

If you’re using jewelry as gear to level a character up, you absolutely can still do that ... pre and post-Summerset.

I found an error in my google table which doubled the required xrafting xp. For now, don't believe my numbers about required rings.
The tables should be ok, it's just the total xp was calculated wrong.

Not since dolmens became a thing. There are far less boring ways for sure but easier? - no way...

I made yesterday a quick fix to the blog. You should see a note, "Earlier version of this post had a bad error ..." with yellow background. The error was in XP needed from level 26 to 50. I rewrote the ring amount calculation this morning.

The blog uses a CDN for distributing the content with one day default caching. I have now purged the page from the CDN cache. Try refreshing the page and you should see the updated version. In fact this all should have happened automatically.

After some quick calculations my new estimate of rings is something like this:
    • From 1 to about 28 use just green cp160 rings. At low levels their xp is heavily cut, but there is nothing we can do about it other than just push through. Each level takes five or six rings. The exact number is complex calculation because of increasing required xp and caps. But a simple average of six rings per 30 levels is 180 greens.
    • After level 28 blue rings give their full xp.
    • After level 30 purple rings give their full xp (don't have exact numbers beyond 28 but estimated).
    • From 30 to 50 about 240 purple cp160 rings.
