Monster Helms: 2-0 vs 1-1

For those of you who use monster helms, do you mostly use the full 2 piece setor do you split 1-1. Is there ever a case where 1-1 would be optimal and outperform the 2-0?

Monster sets provide unique bonuses that cannot be acquired anywhere else. Well, proper ones at least. That's why most cases full monster set wins. Only time 1-1 is better than 2-0 is when 2-0 monster set choice is simply bad, Chudan for example.

Healers may want to run 1-1 because the sets are bad. For everybody else a full set wins.

There is 1 build I know that uses 1-1, and that's Tether Bomber Magblade. In different case I don't see the point, @Liofa filled the topic.

Why is Chudan full set deemed to be bad? Seems to provide awful lot of damage mitigation and opens up an extra slot for most tanks who can then remove the abilities that give Major Ward and Major Resolve.

i think one domihaus plus one kena is a pretty strong combo for pvp, especially for the new hybrid builds coming. otherwise the damage from the monstersets mostly just outshine the damage from 1-1. same goes for the utility of defensive monstersets. for healers sentinel of rkugamz is a pretty good choice tough.

Chudan is not bad at all, depending on the class/build. It works well with WWs, and you can even slap it on a magicka sorc without running boundless on the next update, people often wonder if you're in heavy with proper CP placements.

It's not bad at all, and what you posted about it is absolutely true...

In addition to what you already stated, Chudan:

1) gives more mitigation than Major Ward/Resolve (8234 Physical/Spell Resist for Chudan vs 5280 Physical/Spell Resist for Major Ward/Resolve)...

2) adds 1205 Max Health...

3) is in effect 100% of the time...


When you consider all of that, Chudan rocks and is far better than some seem to think it is...

It has great synergy with Elusive Mist as well as Chudans defensive benefits stack with Mist Form...

I love Chudan on my Magicka Templar...

I absolutely love chudan set. Why?

It perfectly matches my personal weakness as a tank. I do a lot of things very well as a tank. But one thing I do poorly: when the biggest nastiest most attention demanding fights happen, I suck at making sure my armor buffs stay up. Easy fights, no problem. But too often I drop the ball in the moments when I need it the most. As a result, this set has ramped my tanking to a whole other level. Because it covers my personal shortcoming. And as mentioned it does more than give you those buffs up constantly. The extra mitigation and health is nice. Plus now that deep thoughts is coming out, it truly will give me an extra slot compared to most tank builds who will run deep thoughts + armor buff skill.

I will say this. I don't recommend Chudan's as a first pick for others. Because if you are really great at keeping your buffs up in the hardest content, you will get more bang from another set. But for me, I will tank better in chudan's every single time.
