Spiked armor and grim focus bug Ps4

Ok i just want to see if any one else is having same problem as me with grim focus/morphs. After i have charges it and want to shoot the spectral bow if i do it to fast after charge it will only recast the buff not shoot the arow, if i wait 2 sec after charge then i can shoot it.
Spiked armor/morphs in the tool tip it says return dmg to meele attackers, for as long i can remember it have allways said that. So Why do i get dmg when i ether use bow or i use range spells? It have allways been the case on Ps4 and i am curius Why that is when the description dont mention ranged abilities
