PvP Spies

PS4 NA seems to be rife and infested with players spying for other factions. I honestly don't get the mentality or see what's gained from it.
Last night, I was running with a group of about 8 other players, when we were hit by another group of 8 reds. One of "our" guys wasn't doing anything....except to tea bag one of us if we died.
We ended up wiping them, and that player ran off. I'm tempted to name who it was, but I understand it's against forum rules, so I'll just say, I don't see what was gained by this behavior.
I have no issues running into small groups of players, or players in general, to fight. So, just pointing out where a fight is seems usless...they are everywhere. You don't need a spy for that. This also happened around the emperor ring of keeps, so you know there's players around...you don't really need a spy to tell you what keep is next.
I'm just baffled by this entire concept of shady behavior. I cannot see what's gained, except for just being a troll. Hoping someone can explain the reasons doing this is so prevalent.

I find that "spies" are more interested in a particular player or players, not reporting on general alliance movement.

Either you guys are a farming squad or someone in the team pissed him off more than likely.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

It's not the tea bagging that gets me...from an opponent. I see it as I've done something right. It's like, I got to that player and annoyed him or her so badly that it warranted a bag. If I get caught out and bagged, then I know I was doing something right. It's a mark of honor, even though I know it's not meant that way. I'm more disappointed when it doesn't happen...like I wasn't worth the time. Bagging never upsets me.
I've just never seen another member of the same "team" do it to eachother so often, except on the NA server. I'm sure it happens on EU (where I've done most of my playtime) but I've never seen it..

I don't think this is always right. When I get Tea Bagged it isn't because I was that good or got to them, it usually is an insult, letting me know that I was an easy target (because I am). While this is the case in other games where I plat PvP, it most certainly isn't the case here for me and I am sure others. I do still agree though that when I do know I am playing well, I take Tea Bagging as a compliment. It excites me further if I get hate mail, then I really know that I did good!

Sometimes it's not necessarily 'spying'. It may be, of course- but that seems like a weird concept, as many top objective based pvp guilds use private comms.

Sometimes though, if I see a friend of mine playing on another faction, getting a 1vX- I won't roll over him, but I'll let him finish his fight before engaging, or I'll just stop and watch the fight while I'm on my way to do something else or head to another resource. I'm not spying, i'm just respecting a good fight.

Other people might be doing something similar, as a lot of high level players know each other, regardless of faction.

    It's annoying.

And being able to alliance switching doesn't help. Time they make some changes

Well, in this case we were led by this player to a location, and he proceeded to tea bag the ones who died. We won out, and that player left the group. What you are describing is all good, but that wasn't the case here.

Oh man that's terrible- though it is pretty funny xD

What a weird thing to happen.

Actually that's the best thing I've heard since the person who made a smiley face out of camps during the double AP event.

Well, now you know who not to follow into strange locations!

I get accused of being a spy just because I tell people not to cap home keeps because it kills pvp, so in my experience spies don’t really exist and if you see someone doing something “spy” like it’s probabl it’s just someone wanting to troll

Ive saw some stuff kinda like that but what I would like to see is a alliance lock per campaign if you start a campaign on 1 character that's the character you play in that campaign might cut some of the drama down idk but the sad thing is ppl are gonna jump back an forth no matter what
