Option to disable Alliance Rank increase through AP Gain?

Would any of you like an option like this?

Currently I can no longer play my Sorc in any PvP, because I like the Palatine rank symbol next to my name best. If I gain like 100-200K more AP I’ll rank up to August Palatine and lose it. Since I mainly PvE, I’ve chosen to stop PvPing on my main :(

Having an option to halt AP gain counting toward your rank would fix this issue. Yes it’s a very minor thing but I do know some other players who felt the same way about certain ranks and hated that they would have to lose the symbol they liked best. I’ve seen similar requests to be able to halt XP gain as ell, so they could keep playing in Below LvL50 campaigns on the same char.

I think it’s a reasonable request and obv something the player has to consciously activate in their Options.

Then I think the easier solution might be to make the symbols function more like titles where you can select the symbol you want to wear, because alliance rank is all tied up with skill points as well.

My solution isn't perfect because the symbols are generally used as a way to show the actual rank of a person compared to the title, especially when high ranked players wear low ranking titles. However, I think it solves your problem which much less impact on the gaining of AP and alliance ranks for skill points, dyes, titles, furnishings etc.

Yup that'd work too. I totally agree. Your solution is better than mine tbh lol.

And yeah unfortunately it would have that side effect of showing a lesser rank.
Then again, does it really matter what rank someone is in PVP? It's purely a cosmetic. If a Grand Overlord makes a new character, that new character is back at Recruit.

Well, Mr. Sergeant (title) Brigadier (actual) would get +2 to ruse. I'm ok with that though.

It might cause minor confusion for new pvpers and potatoes, but that happens for a multitude of reasons anyway.
